First it was "Tokyo Open" instead of Japan Open, now it’s "Beijing Open" instead of China Ope, looks like even the mistakes come in pairs.

Mannarino's shirt and short look very airy and very comfortable. I don't like apparels that are too tight, especially in hot and humid condition.

Medvedev’s decline in play has more to do with his serve decline.
Say what you will about a sports hernia and having the surgery: but ever since he had that operation, is tied to when the serve became less of a weapon.

I don’t question his fitness nor ability to cover the court. Speed/legs/movement still there.
Over time he suffered a shoulder injury which doesn’t help with power on his serve and forehand.

I dont think people understand how hard it is to recover from a tendine shoulder injury like Daniil had,
Medvedev is cooked for good but it is an injury matter.
I fear for shelton

It's so rare to see two players in a Singles match wearing the same brand of shirts and shorts but they look completely different. Marozsan's Joma is all plain grey, and Muller's Joma is black with pastel motifs. Marozsan's Joma shoes are aqua, Muller's Joma shoes are black.

I hate it when they wear exactly the same clothes, especially if they have the same built and skin, it's hard to tell who's who.

Chinese people know how to market and do business. That's marketing. I haven't seen Nike doing things like that in ATP/WTA tournament in Brisbane.

That makes sense. Nike brings all their most high-profile athletes together, it's guaranteed to generate a lot buzz on social media.

I suffer from hay fever, and my sneeze is very loud. Sitting courtside at Wimbledon, I had the urge to sneeze as McEnroe was about to serve! I managed to suppress it for long enough. Would Musetti have been accused of xenophobia if he had said the same thing in Italy?

I don't think that's "xenophobia", what he said is true, too many smokers in China! It's just the way he said it that was so rude. But hey, he's Italian, being loud and rude is kind of a given. :sneaky:

Yah man, loss of a set or not, Jannik is the likely champion here. Dude is trying things out as he settles back into the tour after the USO. Experiencing a lost set is probably useful to know where his game is, what might need attention. For me, point to note is not that he lost a set, but that he came back to quash any doubt regarding his prowess. That said, good job by Atmane to put up a good challenge in the first 2 sets, keeping the 1st close and winning the 2nd. Jannik faces Marozan next, who is unlikely to take a set but let's see.

Smiling at Mannarino doing his thing in early rounds - admire the dude's efforts, ousting Bublik in straights. Musetti getting the better of GMP again, his 4th win against the Frenchman. Zverev continues in straights, as does Medvedev. Pleased to note that the youngsters Tien & Mensik are through. Poor Rublev can't seem to find a foothold at present, but good job by Cobolli to get through. ADM, ever the fighter, through in a close match.

Just watching Mensik / Cazaux. Good contest, but JM takes the 1st in 39 mins, 63. Like the kid/his game.

Some potentially good encounters coming up, including : Cobolli/Tien; Mannarino / Musetti.
