I think Med is on the right track. But Tien probably gets him next match. Medvedev serve at least has one game per set up where it absolutely disappears.
He talked after his last match about how he doesn’t feel his movement is worse than before, but his instincts and “awareness” have been bad. I’ve noticed that he’s really mis-timed the ball a lot this year, especially on returns. My dad thinks he’s been taking his eye off the ball. Seems crazy, but it might make sense. He’s definitely been much cleaner in this event so far.

Is Zverev getting noticeably slower or is it just me?
His movement hasn’t been as good in general since the injury. I don’t think it’s any worse now than it’s been in that time.

He still has the success he does because he serves over 70% every match and has a better BH than most. But against opponents like Daniil that can neutralize those things (0 aces today despite serving 77%), he’s in trouble.

Can Meddy get past Tien in current form? And what will Carrot do to AdM? :p
Good to see Medvedev's improved form, and Tien's progress (albeit via Musetti's retirement). As for Jannik, likely a straight set win. Anticipated final result remains the same, Jannik lifting the trophy. Let's see.

Hopefully, we will get a Medvedev/Sinner final. Medvedev has played great this tourney and he appears to have found his top gear again. It’s been a while since Sinner lost to somebody not named Alcaraz on a hard court. But Medvedev at this tourney might just be the guy to do it.

Don’t see the MadLad defeating Sinner again. He’s done.

I hope that you are right, since I’m pulling for Sinner to win this event. But Jannik has looked rather blah lately, especially with his bad serving. Hopefully, he can step up his serving a bit. He’s very low in the ace department. And he’s already been broken 4 times this tourney.

He still has far too many stupid losses of focus and refuses to address the DF issues that just get worse and worse, but other than that this is the best he’s played all year for sure.

I’m not sure if getting another humiliation is worth a win tomorrow…but there is 3 ranking spots on the line just from one match.

I probably won’t post if he loses, so I’ll just say this before I go to bed: What happened at the USO was embarrassing for many reasons, but the way I’m trying to look at it as a fan is that it’s what had to happen. He needed to hit rock bottom and essentially have real change forced on him. If suffering another brutal loss while making a butthole moron of himself for the world to see was what it took, so be it. He’s working with his doctor again and a new team, so that shows he’s not so far gone that he has zero self-awareness anymore.

I was ambivalent about this new partnership at first, then cautiously optimistic after the Basavreddy match. But then the Wu loss immediately killed that. Daniil has certainly played well this week, but I don’t know if he can overcome all the trauma and baggage he has at this point. We’ll see. He’s got one more chance at a title maybe in Astana, we’ll see what he does.

Sinner with his by now trademark "issues" (including cramping towards the end) ultimately through to the final. 7 aces, 0 DFs, 64% 1st serves in - reasonable stats overall.

Well stats doesn't tell the whole story. Ive watched all his matches so far in Beijing (not todays bc work, ill watch later). Its safe to say he isnt at his best these days.

Even if Med loses this, and he might as Tien is the worst player for him to play for his current level, this is still bazillion times better than whatever he was on at the start of the year.

BREAKS BACK.

Returning from Moscow but rallying from the top of the baseline.

And while not looking for winners but not actually pushing either

This Medvedev is back on the right track. I prefer a Sinner Medvedev final anyway

I don't think he is ready for a Sinner level match. But what matters is Medvedev from few weeks ago would be in the locker room seething and livid that he lost and he is about to win this in straights(won't put a meltdown loss out of the realm of possibility either)
