Looks like there are lots of potentially exciting matches to be had right from the off. This draw may not pan out as expected looking at the early rounds.

In R1, Khachnov and Musetti have never played each other, but Karen is in the Zhuhai final, while Musetti reached the semis in Chengdu, so fatigue could play a part.
Ruud has a 0-3 losing h2h against Struff.
Rune is carrying a back injury and has been poor lately but so has FAA.
Sinner has never played Evans before, who can be a tough opponent and has played some great tennis of late.
Jarry and Tsitsipas have a 2-2 h2h with their last meeting being pretty close with 2 TB sets.
Rublev and Norrie also have an equal h2h at 2-2
Medvedev should beat Paul but Tommy has had a great run on hard courts since WB, not a given by any means.
Murray won’t be happy to have de Minaur opening round, can’t see him changing the 0-4 h2h.

As usual Carlos gets all the younger players closer to his own age and Medvedev gets all the slightly older players closer to his own age - how does this almost always happen??? I actually think there are some tricky players for Medvedev, especially Tommy Paul in the first round.

Best wishes for Carlitos to have a deep run and to win this tournament! :) :) :)

What's with the totally weird schedule ?? Wed to Wed final ????? LOL is this based on chinese calendar ?

I have a question about the distribution of the four qualifiers - how is it decided which qualifier goes into which part of the draw? Two qualifiers will play each other in the bottom half of the draw, with one qualifier playing Carlos in the first round, and other one playing Etcheverry. The first qualifier will be either Purcell or Wolf; 2nd qualifier will be either Garin or Harris; 3rd qualifier will be either Kecmanovic or Hanfmann; and the 4th qualifier will be either Arnaldi or Vukic - how do they decide which one goes to which half of the draw and plays either Alcaraz or Etcheverry in the top half of the draw, or each other in the bottom half of the draw???

Sigh......Murray drawing his bete noire De Minaur yet again. Hasn't beaten him in any of their 4 meetings and the 2 previous ones this year were both straight set beatdowns. Can't realistically see anything changing this time!! :(

I’ve no idea. Perhaps they just do a mini draw at the end of qualifying.
