Against Fritz? He could double that figure :-D

As for Murray, I didn't catch the match but based on the comments, seems like he was seriously struggling. He did imply he felt rough after his 1st round match and joked that he's deff felt better after matches but yeah, wise retirement. I think we all knew he's on his last legs but if he can get be healthy enough to see out his R1 match at Wimbledon then that's all he needs just to say goodbye to his fans.
From what I picked up in the commentators remarks, he seemed fine before they came on to court and something happened in the warm up.

Eubanks wins over Bublik to win two matches in a row - something he's barely done since his run last summer. His Mallorca win and Wimbledon QF points are about to come off in the next month unless he miraculously defends them. Those achievements and his 2023 Miami QF allowed his year of no qualifying anywhere. He really hasn't taken advantage and bolstered his ranking - often losing in the first round, and a few times winning one match before losing, I tought that might be the case (though I thought he'd win a few more matches). Last summer's run, instead of being a "new beginning" has turned out to just be a really nice "I've toiled for a long time and I finally had my moment" bookend to a journeyman career - which is great as is. I like him, and hope he can manage another career uptick, but I won't be surprised if it doesn't happen. If it does, grass season would be the time. As we were all taking about before his run last year - the commentator's booth awaits when he wants to call it.

Very well put (y)

5-3 and raonic loses 4 in a row to lose the TB 7-5, including both his serves. What a joke.

I think it says more about Fritz that a part-time player on the verge of career retirement like Raonic can get a lead like that in the first place. Fritz is just outside the top 10 for christs sake.

And Raonic is probably about to break him AS I write this. Nope! Recovers from 0-40 to deuce.

You never seen to make any sense.

That part time player hit a record 47 aces yesterday.

Fair point but Fritz should be better than this, Raonic isn't really serving through him like he was Norrie and he came close to being broken and Fritz is not exactly a slouch on serve either and this is grass. I think Raonic had maybe 5 aces in the first set but is still making this extremely close and he's no way near his prime. Not meaning to be rude to Raonic but cmon... the current top 20 is just full of such average players.

Raonic had an off serving day …for him….and Taylor barely made an UE. He has won in straights. Fritz stayed solid and only gave up one BP which he saved. I didn’t really see much to criticise tbh

Or, the other possibility is that Raonic isn't/wasn't as bad a player as many made him out to be. Sure, he's slow, clumsy, and probably wasn't quite of the calibre we'd like to see of a #3 ranked player. However, the sum total of his game had a pretty wicked effect on the right days. When he was healthier, I don't think anyone on tour wanted to see him in their way in the draw. He brought something different than the hordes of cookie-cutter power baseliners, and that was a nice variation to see. We credit other players for having an effective serve and bag on them when they don't serve well. With that in mind, I could never understand why Milos got so much hate for having a great serve. Of course, other aspects of his game were weaker, but every player has a unique combination of strengths and weaknesses.

Raonic is not a bad player but he's nowhere the God of the Lost Generation some make out to be.

For someone who has a big Serve like him, his Serve/Game seem to desert him when it matters most (Closing Sets/Tiebreaks) while you would rarely see this from Karlovic, Isner, Opelka, etc...

Maybe, but then again Raonic had a higher peak than any of those three. He must have been doing something right that they weren't.

No, i could perfectly comprehend that you're an unreasonably butthurt Sinner fan.
I'm not a Sinner fan. Why do you insist on making things up?

But this doesn’t rebuke Murray being an obvious ATG…
An ATG? I guess it depends on how generous you are with that tag. Is Wawrinka going to be one? Kuerten? Courier? Do you accept that he is miles behind John Mcenroe? Probably not...

Trying to make a point out of Fritz only beating Raonic with 1 tiebreak is absurd/ridiculous. Raonic can serve himself to a tiebreak against anyone. You lack perspective.

I hope Queens gets Masters status, not Halle. So much better to watch on all levels, nicer environment, better court, superior tv-production.
While I agree on most of those points, I think center court at Halle is nicer. Queens has a pleasingly quaint and historical feel to it, and it's certainly a lovely venue, but the Halle court is very cool. Feels more like a big event, while Queens feels more like... Newport.

Only thing I don't quite care for at Halle is the echo in the court. It makes it sound like an indoor venue and the shadows the roof casts.

After Wimbledon my favourite grass centre court is at Eastbourne. Love the size and space:

Yes, very nice human-scaled proportions.

geez, Fritz is still so over-hyped...American men's tennis is still mediocre
Sebi can make the final here, he's playing big tennis and making fewer errors than in the past.

I think Fritz is hyped for reasons extraneous from tennis: he's handsome and he has that Barbie "influencer" GF, Madison, who apparently has a big following on social media. They market themselves adroitly as this jet setting, gorgeous couple.

This is a great observation. I almost forgot about Korda because he doesn't act like a typical American player. I think being raised by European parents really shows, his demeanor in matches reflects it for sure.

My concern is he's still not fit enough for multiple BO5. I'm sure he will play better at Wimbledon when fresh than he has today but conditioning has been his downfall many a time over the past year.

Fitness is always a worry with him as it is for most British players. He'll have to work on it if he's to make any headway at Wimbledon (although there's probably not enough time for that).

Which makes you wonder why he plays so passively most of the time.

Unless he's changed things up more recently.
