Rattie

G.O.A.T.
Seeds:
1. Carlos Alcaraz
2. Jannik Sinner
3. Felix AA
4. Alexander Bublik
5. Daniil Medvedev
6. Andrey Rublev
7. Jakub Mensik
8. Karen. Khachanov

Notably Djokovic withdrew recently citing fatigue. Zverev skips this one preferring to head for Acapulco next week.
FAA and Bublik are playing each other in the Rotterdam semi final today, so how tired will they be after their journey to Doha?

Draw:

EDIT: FAA not in the draw as he’s listed to play Dubai next week.

EDIT: Bublik and Munar have now withdrawn from the event.

Draw:

Yes, if Felix wins he should withdraw. Already played two weeks in a row.

Better to try to gain some points at IW.

It seems he has done as I’ve just realised he isn’t shown in the draw. He’s down to play Dubai next week instead.

Sinner with another draw designed by La Italia Mafia :censored:
Alcaraz/Medvedev/Rublev/Khachanov all in the same half.
And at the AO Alcaraz/Zverev/Felix/Rublev/Medvedev were all in the same half.

Carlos is a combined 15-3 against Med/Rub/Khach. Hardly the draw from hell for him.
Never said it was...
But its a trio of golden retrievers, guaranteeing that Alcaraz will face a grind in the SF (Medvedev or Rublev) at least, and maybe the QF (Khachanov is known to grind).
For Sinner and Alcaraz, its never about winning or losing before the Final, rather energy expenditure.

ATP:

Alcaraz is infused with the relentless desire to improve that has always characterised the greatest players in tennis history, and that is what will be at the forefront of his mind next week when he returns to action as the top seed at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha.

“Obviously I can see myself that [I have had] a lot of success so far, winning the biggest tournaments in the world,” said Alcaraz on Sunday at his pre-tournament press conference in Qatar. “But I just see myself with weaknesses. A lot of players, I know that they're trying to catch me up in terms of they are studying my game, they study how I play, trying to beat me, trying to challenge me.

“I have to be ready for that, and I have to see where my level is, where my tennis is. I have to try to put myself in their minds and think what they could do when playing against me. So that's what I mean about saying I have to improve some things. Obviously, you cannot be lagging in the level, you just have to keep it going.”

Just too good, appreciate it.
Boring just like when big 3 feading bagel and breadstick to the tour
Sorry no. I don’t appreciate a boring machine blasting his baseline robotic game and steam rolling everyone not named Alcaraz. None of the big 3 did that tournament after tournament. It’s one massive yawn. Who wants to watch that. Tennis a competition. I felt that existed in the big 3 era. Sinner isn’t worth watching until he meets one player. Thank goodness Carlos exists I say. That’s the only saving grace.

Don't you mean two players? He just lost to Djokovic, no?

People find anything boring after the great mind desertification that happened after 2020.

Heh, heh, Fils & Mensik with identical results except JM's tb ended 8-6 and AF's was 7-5. Good job by both to get through. Popyrin / Royer with very similar outcomes too, each bageling their opponent, clinching a straight sets win. Not to be left behind, Jannik & Medvedev also had similar outcomes, getting through in straights. These similarities seem to have been the most noteworthy aspect of the proceedings today.

Mpetshi really threw that match away. Granted, Bergs was the better player on the ground. But with GMP's serve he'll always have the advantage in tiebreaks as long as he makes it there. He was up 30-0 in the last game (at 4-5) but messed up with some bad serving and horrible UEs. Honestly, you should really rethink your gameplan if you have such a strong serve and still get broken twice on a fast hard court.
