Just imagine how hell Holger might have done tonight if he wasn't playing Ivo Karlovic? I mean, what can you do?
His return of serve is definitely his biggest problem. I don't remember it being so bad from the time he made it to Top 5, but I can't imagine him getting there again if it keeps like this.

Holger was terrible on return and too erratic, but big props to RBA who was very consistent. What a big effort from the 37 year old taking out Mensik and Rune back-to-back. Carlos will be favored but he won't have an easy time like with Munar.

What a golden opportunity for Carlos Alcaraz :happydevil:
We've never met RBA on grass, but Alcaraz won their meetings on hardcourt 62 60, and on clay 63 75.
And I'm not impressed with Jack Draper's form, plus you always go with Clutcharaz in the Finals.

I'm not too worried if Carlos wins this event and looks exhausted afterwards, he's 22 and he has young legs, he'll recover.

Plus Wimbledon is a slam where they have days off in between matches.

Go for the 2025 grass slam Carlos!
Agree, plus Alcaraz has a bigger advantage at Wimbledon than anywhere else!
As Agassi said, everybody runs 20% slower on grass except for Alcaraz, he's just as fast on grass as on clay/hardcourt.
Plus Alcaraz gets rewards for his shots on grass, so the matches won't take as long (i hope, but Munar gave him 3hr 23min this week).

What's going on with Holger? Two good tournaments and decent (R4 - not great but he didn't lose to scrubs) results in slams. Outside of Indian Wells, he's been poor at all the masters. He showed consistently good performances there (bar the final) and at Barcelona. He's been Mr. Inconsistent otherwise. This is somehow better than what he did at this time last year but I really thought and hoped he would improve. Instead, he has plateaued once again. He had a pretty good back end of last year, so he'll have to replicate that to stay in Top 10.

While Fed often would be annoyed at folks diminishing the hard yards, Carlos tho didn't help with the terrible pr job that was his Netflix docu that seemingly made him look like Kyrgios himself.
I don't think that Netflix documentary painted him in a particularly bad light in terms of work ethic. Everyone needs to blow off some steam. If anything it made his team seem overly harsh.

Although I always preferred Sinner, I did like Alcaraz before watching that, and it only made him more endearing to me. Seems like a genuinely good kid (just like Sinner).

Yah man, interesting qfs. Superb stuff by RBA- my match of the day. Rune kept it close in the first 2 sets, did well to clinch the 2nd set tb, but RBA remained resolute & incisive, outplaying HR in the decider. Draper stayed focused, through against Nakashima, who's had a good run here. As has Fearnley, out to an in-form Lehecka, who seems to have quietly meandered his way to the sf.
Carlitos doing enough to get the job done in straights in reasonable time. Nice day at the office.

I like this. Sub zero intensity and just breaking at the business end. Pete like (with non-pete like second serving)
Heh, heh man. Enjoy your takes. Had to chuckle at the bolded part which seems almost contradicory - but is actually spot on. You've the eye that sees.

He should be fine against 37 year old Agut. Even if Agut is the hardest trainer in the universe.

Jonathan Bon Jovi in the house watching Draper/Lehecka. I bet he’s got a one-hander
he's becoming the most notable celebrity on tour

bounces back and forth...Gavin Bush with Fed, Ben Stiller with Nadal...Will Ferrell was always around...Elton John...Gladys Knight

Yes. I also recall Kevin Spacey often attending Muzz’s matches back before his fall from grace.

Flat hitting prospers again in Queens! As it should be. Alcaraz has got some seriously flat stuff to get through if he wants that title.

Draper looks like he was feeling hometown pressure...better get his head together this week before W...will only get worse there...not gonna' win a GS carrying that kind of pressure...maybe talk to Murray about it if he hasn't already

Would be epic if he'd get Murray on board! I like this kid

There’s no reason why Draper’s game can’t be effective on grass. He has a good serve, instinctively very aggressive off the ground, can hit flat, a commendable transition game. Talking to Murray is a good idea.

His movement is awful, I've been watching almost all of his matches this week, There is nothing wrong with his hitting or shot selection but he just doesn't move well on grass. I've watched basically every player expose him this week simply by making him run side to side, he doesn't understand how to close off the angles and it leaves him exposed.

Draper is so overrated on here. Dude is straight up trash and he’s a top 5 player in the world. That’s why I will never rag on the med, tstsipas, Zverev gen too much. Look at this one LOL. You don’t think alcaraz and sinner are benefitting from this pile of zebra droppings?

Calling this for Alcaraz tomorrow. There's no way on earth he's losing to a fellow Spaniard especially RBA and he won't lose to Lehecka.

Not sure if I can count on Draper as a favourite for Wimbledon this year. He has issues and needs to work on them.

Leheckca is a dangerous player but still a small disappointment from Draper. Although I hope it won't bother him and he on the outside looks extremely composed and focused, the expectations coming into Wimbledon won't be easy to deal with.
