Even though Sinner is on top of the world right now I still don’t see him in a tournament like this and think of him as a shoe in

Sinner with a pretty tough draw. Big servers mostly on his side, Sascha, Milos and Hubi can be brutal indoor and VDZ is a bad start into this. We will see how good his return game is after the AO.
He needs to build aura by dominating tournaments like this. He must demoralize them in 500s so they don't bother him in M1000s or Slams.

But Medvedev has 8765 points. He doesn't play, so he'll remain with 8265 after the tournament ends. If Sinner reaches the final, he'll have the same points he has now, 8310. Did I miss something?
Sinner now has 8070 points after losing points from the 250 he had played last year. If he wins the title, he’ll be at 8270 points. He had made the final in Rotterdam last year. He will be 5 points ahead of Medvedev

Right, my bad.

I'm going out on a limb and picking Dimitrov. He played great in Brisbane, maybe he can take a 500 title next week.
I like your gist and thoroughly approve!

Watched Dennis - Maxi Marterer quali live today. Good win from Dennis, he played very inspired and what a player he is when everything clicks.
Pleased Denis is through. You've stated the reasons I enjoy his game and support him.

Rune v Safiullin 1R could be fun. Shap's gonna have a good tournament here; QFs minimum.

Yeah, Sinner doesn't have an easy draw, does he? It's his chance to show he can deliver week in and week out. But a bit of a drop of intensity after the AO win would also be understandable.

It’s important for Sinner to keep his momentum and winning run going. He can get closer to no1 ranking, try to get another title and keep his mental edge on tour. I expect him to go strong again here.

Has anyone stepped in to coach Holger following Becker and Luthi's departures now or is he in complete coaching limbo? Or might an abundance of motherlove raise his tennis to the next level...

Holger is not coachless, Kenneth Carlsen is his coach all along and he was promoted to the head coach last month, Luthi was sacked and Becker was demoted but left now.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sinner loses in Rotterdam. Winning the first tournament after winning a maiden Grand Slam title is not usual, not even one member of the Big 3 was able to do it. Winning his first Grand Slam title is such a euphoria for a tennis player that he will underestimate prudence.

Elo sees Jannik as one of the clearest favourites I have seen in a long time in a tournament, as the other three big guys plus Zverev are missing. Over half, quite incredible!

Prizmic proving again he's a tough young cookie : up 3 0 in second set TB against Goffin who seems to run out of steam

Prizmic got broken, seems injured his quad (already taped)
Trailing 0 3 one break receives MT
But ... keeps fighting, great attitude, love it. Breaks back trailing 1 4 now

Raonic surprisingly has very soft fluffy overhead smashes for someone of his size especially considering that he has a great serve.
