Elo sees Jannik as one of the clearest favourites I have seen in a long time in a tournament, as the other three big guys plus Zverev are missing. Over half, quite incredible!

Hi there, sorry I'm new here so this might be a silly question, but how are you calculating this? I'm quite curious

Alex allowed no wriggle room to Grigor, and deserved the win. Well done to him for continuing his good form. Sorry that Grigor could not make it.
Jannik delivering the anticipated result, looking poised and honed, despite injury niggles. I anticipate his victory in the final, but hope that Alex can put up a fight and make a match of it.

Hoping Koolhof/Mektic win the doubles.

What is De Minaur doing so much better than before? Haven’t watched as much last 6 months and I’m curious because his game always seemed too limited to me to be top 10

He's DeMinaur, just a little bit better. A little bit more pop, a liitle more aggressive, a bit more accuracy, and maybe even a little bit more speed - which was already top-notch. Most importantly, the results have been better and nothing fuels a player more than confidence. When the going gets tough, instead of choking and mugging, he feels like he has it so he goes and gets it.

Still, tomorrow is a different ball game. If Sinner is at least at 70%, well... ya know.

Dimitrov hasn’t looked like able to sustain high intensity matches in succession lately. It must be his age, and obviously not everyone can be a Djokovic. I was expecting a loss today, but just hoping for a small miracle because I wanted to watch him play against Sinner.

Yep I agree, it's clear that, despite playing very well (atm and has for some time now), he suffers from age related decline. His main strength of being a fast all court player with retrieval skills thanks to impressive athleticism just isn't there in same way anymore. Some points in his loss to DeMinaur showed his footwork lagging a bit as well. Add to that the fact that all of his strokes point and finishing instinct compared to similar styles of successful players (Federer being the most obvious and recent) just never has been quite on that absolute top level (talking sustained top 10 here) despite the fact that he briefly cracked the top 5 in 2017.

Alex tried always to play close to the baseline, even against Roger in Basel. He takes your time away, taking the ball early, hitting flat and redirecting well. As BB stated, he does so now a lot of things slightly better. In tennis this is huge.

I haven't checked any stats but to me it looks like he's playing with a slightly higher average pace as well but that could be an illusion due to playing closer to the baseline

Maybe not Federer level, but his strokes at the end were not as sharp as in previous matches. Especially his backhand DTL was constantly drifting out or in the net. I think it’s his body not cooperating with him.

Holy Tennis Mass at Sportpaleis Ahoy Rotterdam about to begin ... Sinner vs. Demon ... let the Sermon begin and may the best win

If Monfils can take a game off Sinner, Alex can do it too...and then we have a game.
Sinner breaks! Sinner says not today!
