I never saw the USO match where Stricker beat Tsitsipas so this is the first I've seen him play. He's improved a lot since he was Fed's Dubai training partner. Seems like a nice kid as well. But he's got to lose the baby fat.

He certainly has and was impressive in us open too. He’s got an exciting game and plays great attacking tennis. On his day he’s a threat to the top players.

Cameras showing Holger doing stretching in the players area with Boris standing over him. Boris says, "stay calm, stay focused. Good things are gonna happen!" Boris seems to take his coaching commitment seriously.

Holger going big on his serves and missing many first serves so far. He likes to receive starting a match and usually struggles when he loses the toss and his opponent elects to receive.

I’ve been away so just got home in time to watch this match. It seems young Holger is back! Finally (y)
He's just on fire. Hitting massive FH's, confident and hitting his serves big. A joy to watch after the last few miserable months for him. This Holger with Boris behind him can challenge for big titles in 2024.

I hope so, although I wouldn’t root for him against my 2 faves lol. I’m keen to see him qualify for the WTFs especially as he almost managed it last year.

so glad to hear this, I saw some of the 1-6 set on Tuesday and was appalled. So the back issue wasn’t an issue after all?

No, I personally think it was the GF and never a back issue. Whatever was ailing him is history now. He used to just give up and tank when it was 40-0 on his opponents serve, now he's fighting for almost ever point. Boris doesn't mess around.

Rune was just complaining to the chair umpire about being rushed between points by the time clock. Chair says, "you're under the time limit most of the time, Casper." Holger shakes his head and says, "I'm not Casper."

What kind of umpire doesn't even know who is who among the players?

Well, Holger got frustrated in the second set and his level dropped. Etcheverry made only 2 UE's in the set and missed only three first serves. Onto set three.

I had to run around the block to burn off nerves during the TB while I recorded it.

HOLGER WINS!!!

A huge thing Boris needs to work on are Holger's weak passing shots. He constantly hits it directly back to his opponent with spin so that it dips. He needs to blast it by the other guy.

Rune is weird - going for borderline daft second serve + volleys on several key points but on all the others just playing the pushing game waiting for Etch to miss. Quite a lucky escape for him in the end, but at least he's back to winning some matches. We'll see if Becker can give him a direction and help him harness his potential.

I should say that Tomas Martin is Etche-verry good. Great power, moves well for his size, particularly when closing the net, where he's surprisingly good. Serve could be a bit better given his frame but his ace numbers have been on the up this year. Expect to see him in the top 20 next year.

Maybe when he is Old er er

Three wins in a row for Becker - maybe he manages to establish himself as top class tennis coach on the scene. I always wondered why he didn´t do more coaching after the long ago Djokovic episode.

Boris said he got sick of the traveling as a coach and living out of a suitcase.

Nobody watching the Hurkacz-Humbert game? Uneven play in an even match. Hurkacz had 2 MP at 5-4 in the 3rd, Humbert serving bombs to even it at 5-5. Probably going to TB.

They’re not playing necessarily bad, but they’re looking so plain, so fireless. It’s like they’re sad most of the time.
