ATPMedia blocking a LOT of tennis videos on YouTube

Did you guys notice over the last couple of days that ATPMedia is starting to block a lot of tennis videos on YouTube? I've seen some highlights getting blocked, as well as some Indian Wells videos that were shot in the stands by fans... I'm wondering if we are about to reach the end of watching tennis on YT.

Lame and stupid, indeed. I can understand blocking certain vids because of copyright infringements, but amateure vids from fans in de crowd? Ridiculous. Most of those are crappy quality anyways.

ATP should really reconsider this move. If anything, this could decline the interest in tennis. Youtube is such a good opportunity to promote any types of sport. Tennis in USA is especially not what it used to be, and this will not improve the situation in any way. They have to learn how Psy became so famous.

It's especially annoying when the video you were trying to watch isn't available on the ATP site. Talk about "dog in the manger" attitude. I could understand it if they were protecting videos that can be seen on their site.

The shortsightedness is breath taking. That's why I am happy to just upload to Daily motion, even if it means I get a lot less views for my clips, But for sure I will never bother to upload anything to Youtube again.

I noticed they'd blocked the fan-clip showing only the match-point point in Andy Murray/Monfils etc doubles match the other day, despite there being no legitimate place to watch it.

It didn't infringe on anything they showed, so either they're throwing their weight around because they can, or because people might notice some of the stuff they don't show is better than some of the stuff they do show.

Hardly a loss or lost opportunity for the game....anybody looking for tennis video on You Tube is already a hard core fan.

Is it legal to block a video made by a bystander/fan? Are there rules against taking video inside tennis venues?

Which is why i download the matches as soon as they become available on Youtube.

Shame i couldn't get to a few other matches before they were extinguished.

I don't know what everyone is looking for but there are hundreds of full matches on you tube as of today. 3/10/2014.

If you want to watch all the non-slam matches, spring a few dollars and watch them any time you want to on tennistv.com
