Aussie open is better than US open

BTW does anyone know which out of the 4 grand slams do the players get to keep the real trophy? The big one?

None of them give you the real trophy. Usually you get a much smaller replica except at the US open where you get a full size (or almost full size) replica.

The players don't get to keep the real trophies at any of the four majors.

I saw on the US Open YouTube page that they said the trophy takes several months to make and it showed the large one so I was thinking, do they recycle the old ones, I don't understand why they have to remake the large trophy every year

As Brit I don't care to change it. It's always been like this for me, it's got character and rowdiness in keeping for our NY Am cousins :)
Nice gap from Wimbledon and still summery here.
Then its the Asian-swing and then WTF's. So it sits fine.
Now we can get lots of coverage online - bring it on.

Might be different if I ever was to actually visit.

Just watching the Keys v Riseke match and I thought the exact same thing that the Australian Open is so much better than the US Open....for starters you have 2 US players playing against each other on opening night and AA Stadium is half empty (and that is being generous)...would never happen at Australian Open!

I know it was probably full earlier for Djokovic match but I'm sorry, if you had 2 Australians playing against each other on RLA on opening night, the place would be full!

I'm sure USO will overall have great crowd numbers and it will be another successful year in it's long history, however in my opinion it has quite some way to go before it challenges the Australian Open in regards to crowds, facilities and all round atmosphere.

there's always a fair bit of ridiculousness involved with the us open, which i suppose is part of its . . . er . . . "charm". their scheduling always makes me roll my eyes. first night session and already they have someone out on the court til almost 2am (it's 1:40 now). why are there only 12 people in the stadium? hmmm . . . i wonder.

the roof 'ceremony' was chock full of ridiculousness. i mean, it's a roof.
