"Australia's Day of Shame" - Former MP Craig Kelly on Novak Djokovic's deportation from Down Under in 2022

Australia's former Member of Parliament Craig Kelly recently expressed his dismay at the treatment meted out to Novak Djokovic last year.

Craig Kelly calls a spade a spade. (y) He accuses Prime Minister Morrison and his government of creating a hostile atmosphere towards the tennis legend and AO record holder in order to score political points tightly before a election, which led to Djokovic's forced departure from Australia. However, Morrison didn't stay in the prime minister's seat after the election, and his successor Albanese allowed Djokovic to participate in this year's AO.

Australia’s Day of Shame. The decision to deport Novak was a metaphor of everything that was wrong with the Morrison regime - no principles and forever chasing what they thought would be popular tomorrow, without a concern for the long-term consequences.

In the free world, we should always say NO to totalitarian dictators removing human rights

Australia was literally putting human beings into camps, WWII wasn’t that long ago for all of us to just turn our heads and look away while these atrocities were committed

Very disappointed in people who supported these politicians actions, they should be in prison for life

Novak was a shining beacon of light, more people should have followed in his steps instead of falling in line to treat humans like cattle
 
Craig Kelly said nothing at the time, so I think we can safely ignore him now on this issue and on so many others.

The trouble is that Craig Kelly had gone off the deep end by then so these remarks were submerged by his generally extreme views.

Advocating for Novak in such a way when the government was trying to throw him out for his views on vaccination as a potential source of public unrest was counter-productive, to say the least.
 
AO should lose the rights to hosting a slam, and Saudi Arabia should host all tennis in december-january.
Morrison couldn't be any worse than the current monstrosity Australia have as PM....
