So we have a rematch of their 2011 and 2013 finals at this event. This is the 4th time they meet at the AO with Djokovic winning all the previous 3 meetings.

Will Murray finally win this title on his 4th final or will Djokovic win an Open Era record 5th AO title? Both have a lot to fight for this Sunday.

Novak in 5 to get his record 5th :)

Seriously, Murray is playing a bit better, had an easier sf match, more rest...but I just like Djokovic a bit more especially on this surface. Expecting an even first 4 sets with Novak playing a bit better and then Novak to win the 5th set something like 6-3 or 6-4.

Djokovic in 3 easy sets, similar games, Djokovic does everything better, plus he's due a better performance, and I think Murray will be nervous, more pressure on him. I also think Murray has peaked too early in this tournament.

Murray, the extra rest day swings it for me. You don't recover as well at 27 as you did 24.

However Djokovic could totally step it up a gear.

Honestly, I personally don't know. Djokovic played his worst match against Wawrinka, but still won with a bagel in the fifth...Murray played great, but has he peaked?

This is too tough to call.

Going for Murray in 5. Novak could be too tired or he might do a '09 Nadal. You never know with these superathletes.

it won't let me vote in the poll for some reason, but Murray to win in 4, maybe 5. At the US open, Murray was giving Djoko hell with his banging forehand until he ran out of gas. He's fitter now, so maybe this time he'll be able to finnish the job:)

plus: there is forecast to be some wind.

edit: now able to vote- voted Murray in 5

The AO surface suits Djoko better

When I saw the draw at the start of the tournament I picked Djokovic to win but I think I am going to go with Murray winning this one. Murray looks like he is on some kind of mission and out to prove people wrong.

Murray in four or five.

if Murray is nervous and feeling pressure ever again in a Slam final after winning Wimbledon, particularly the final game, he should be drawn and quartered...Novak was nervous and feeling pressure tonight, so it can happen to anyone, but way too much experience for both to see a collapse like Wawrinka in the fifth

It could go to Djokovic in three straights if Murray starts slow, but he (Murray) is chomping at the bit to send a vengeful message--not only to Djokovic, but to everyone who just assume he's already lost the final.

Novak probably is less worried about Murray than Wawrinka with his consistent power...of course if Murray is on he can match Novak's speed and stamina well

Factoid:

1. Djokovic currently sits on 8 match winning streak against Murray on hard court including 2 wins in GS tournaments.
2. Djokovic leads Murray 4-1 in hard court GS tournaments including plain 3-0 record at AO.

Conclusion: Djokovic can't ask for better or easier opponent in current situations. I think his biggest test was Wawr which he has passed now. Not Facing big match players like Fedal in Final is always big opportunity to bag GS title but Djokovic has shown signs of fatigue or some lacklustre play in two GS Finals he has lost to Murray. So it's not out of realm of possibilities that he will come with "C" Game facing Murray.

I think Djokovic plays with his standards (around 85-90%) he has played so far in this tournament, he wins this in 4 or may in 5 sets simply because he's better and naturally more gifted athlete than Murray.

Match will boring pushfest as we all know, so I can give advice new Tennis fan that be away from this otherwise he will hate this sport forever!

Plus he wants to shut people up about the criticism for his coaching choice in Mauresmo. He looks like he is playing more aggressively and looks like his fitness is good. I think Murray may take this one.

Some what unbelievably, Andy is currently marginally lwading the poll

Considering the way Djok played in the SF, not really ..

But yeah, Djok went from below par to great tennis from semi to the final at Wimbledon in 14, so you never know ....

Good to see you getting the excuses in early in the event of a Murray win.

Another factoid is that they are 2-2 in slam finals and that their last meeting at the AO went 4 sets and the one before that went 5.

But I'm sure any Murray win will be described by you as a function of Novaks poor performance.

Fact: Andy Murray has never won a GS without extraordinary circumstances

Either wind, or favorable draw, or huge home crowd bias

Novak is simply the better player, better athlete, and mentally stronger

That's just the way it is...case closed

Just kidding

Looking forward to a classic battle Sunday whoever wins, mate

If Murray wins, I hope he sends a thank you note to Federer or at least a text while waiting to get the trophy.

2 things concern me about Murray:

I get the feeling there is a very thin line between him being brilliant and falling apart completely, and that thin line is almost entirely based on his serve. Djokovic will devour that second serve.

Also, he has been a slow starter (lost the first set v Berdych, was getting taken apart by Dimitrov early on), and the record books show that whoever wins the first set between the two tends to go on and win the match (I think it's 5 out of 6 in slams).

However, I think Murray is currently in a better place form-wise, mentally and physically so I'll say Murray in 4.

Djokovic is like a version of Murray that does absolutely everything better, including volleying now that Becker has coached him.

He's fitter, stronger, faster, has a better backhand, forehand, first serve second serve, return of serve, is more mentally tough/clutch...etc...

I don't see how Murray will win a set, I am predicting a 6-2, 6-1, 6-2 scoreline.

What are you talking about, if anything the recent trend has been that Djokovic has the ascendancy big time in this match-up.

Murray used to give Djokovic some trouble and even beat him quite often, but recently, Djokovic has been winning their matches easier and easier and easier.

Following that trend, I predict that Djokovic will have his easiest win yet over Murray in the final.

Five setter semifinal with Wawr sealed the deal batz. ;)

I'm sure if Djokovic wins Sunday's Final, Murray fans will revert back to old overused fitness excuse or will invent some special excuse "Foot Blister" or "F%cking 5 minutes before match" etc etc … … :)

In all seriousness I won't come with excuse if Djokovic loses because I don't belong to Camp Becker but I am quite sure his devoted followers will so as Murray's. Finally Record books don't remember those.

You're naive. Murray has won their last 2 out of 3 grand slam finals and he is in better form going into this one. Djokovic just lost two sets to a woeful Wawrinka and you think he's going to demolish Murray at the loss of just 5 games? Dream on.

Hmmm....let's see:

Their last 3 Slam finals:

2013 Wimbledon: scoreline 6-4,7-5,6-4 to Murray.
2013 AO: scoreline 6-7,7-6,6-3,6-2 to Djokovic.
2012 USO: scoreline 7-6,7-5,2-6,3-6,6-2 to Murray.

And you don't see how Murray can win a set against Djokovic? I mean...REALLY???

People keep saying this is Murray in Wimbledon 2013 form.

Disagree, I think it looks like Murray in 2012 Olympics.

He is CRUSHING the ball.

 Careful, don't jinx Murray! You never know how these matches will go but it is hard to see how anybody could think Murray won't win a set at least.
