Yep, thats the sad part. You try as hard as any of them but when someone is more naturally gifted than you what do you do.
Same with Maria vs Serena.

Sort of like roddick. Great tennis talent but not the most naturally athletic

Murray definitely has good chances for the Slams that require less fitness from an endurance standpoint such as Wimbledon and the US Open. I'm definitely a believer again in Murray and think he can win a Slam this year... probably Wimbledon, after Djokovic wins RG upsetting the odds against Nadal.

What do you think about Roger's chances at Wimbledon?

I reckon he can have a run at it if it plans his year well.

Don't think anyone could have out grounded Djokovic today so congratulations. Too good today. Fully deserved.

I like the chances for Roger, Andy and Novak with Rafa, Milos and Grigor as wildcards.

Early three faves for me are those 3 in this order: Murray/Djokovic .... Federer ......................... the rest.

Is it me, or does Andy seem unusually cold towards Novak after this loss? Usually he seems a bit more...I dunno...friendly?

He hardly even looked in Novak's direction, even as he walked away during the final photos (usually the finalist pats the winner on the back or says "congrats" or something).

I hate these speeches nowadays. Blabbering out stats like 700 thousand spectators etc. Tennis players should be tennis players. I want some future champion to say- well, my forehand /serve worked tonite or didnt or simply 'what a f@#k-all of a match' or something politely-equivalent. Let them be themselves rather than making these Academy award/Corporate style speeches.
Andy looked a bit p@@ed at that suggestion from Novak. Perhaps Kim is the more sporting one of the pair, "f-expressions" notwithstanding.

I somewhat agree with those saying Djokovic moves a lot better here and is more fluent. Murray does plod a little more with his feet whilst Novaks flexibility and dexterity makes him recover his position better.

However I think it was pretty evident that it was Murray's forehand that let him down in the 4th. If that can be ascribed to exhaustion, tightness or technique is hard to say. But the problem is that Murray hits it so flat, that he nets a lot more than the other top players. Pulling those shots up from the ground up in the court is tough for Murray. Much like Berdych in that respect. I believe there is room for him improving his forehand technique, adding a little more topspin on some of those shots, changing grip when needed. Obviously he has been working with his FH throughout his career and it may just be what it is - not as good a natural shot as the other top guys and the first to break down when going the distance.

Let's see if Novak can finally get that elusive RG this year.

Congratulations to Novak Djokovic and all his fans!

The best man won and he owns this slam.

Runner up in a Grand Slam is a very fine achievement especially against such a great champion, so a great fortnight from Andy Murray. The signs are there for a much better year for him and I liked his speech.

I guess he could have been a bit more congratulatory but he was probably so p1ssed off at himself that he just wanted to get off as quickly as possible which, of course, you can't do in a GS final!

Thanks for the laugh, man.

Andy sure did not care for that , the timing from djokovic was off, it's like sorry I am too good for you when it comes to tennis, hope you take solace in your personal life ... or simply PR crap, sure he has already congratulated Andy personally before this.

Do you think that's what it is, that he's angry at himself?

He seemed annoyed with Djokovic during the match and commentators were saying it was due to him "acting" tired. A bit unfair since Andy and Nole both tend to look phyiscally beaten when they're under pressure, and Andy was tweeting about how people were basically scornful of him doing it. Maybe just the commentators were making more of it that it was but Andy definitely looked pretty annoyed at the end.

But I think mainly he has himself to blame, he was testing Djokovic but either ran out physically but maybe more ran out mentally. Still a good result considering where he was last year though.

So happy that Djokovic gets his 8th slam here!

I feel sorry for Andy, having lost four finals. But, at least he is back contesting slam finals again, where he belongs.

CONGRATULATION NOLE!!! I'm happy for him
Achievements now are mounting up

Sad for Murray though :(

When I saw the score and last year's Wim score, l remembered 2007 Wim: If tiebreak sets were one set each, Rafa would have won it :(

Hewitt would not be able to play like the way he did for 3 sets against the AO GOAT in his dreams. Sod off. Murray went away mentally. Hewitt does not have the game. Failed attempt at point scoring.
But he could play that way for one set when he was 30+ years old, 7-8 years past it and enjoying his role as a journeyman on tour..

Once again, your predictions, argument or what you say doesn't line up.

Hewitt has as much of "the game" as Murray, and as I said, tonight made it obvious.

I don't think there was anything wrng with it, other than Murray was in no mood for light hearted comments I guess. But he had congratulated him on getting to the final as everyone does. You're right though he must have congratulated him about his wedding too, but maybe he wanted to say something nice to him, there's only so much solace in "congrats on making the final"

murray looked ****ed

is this the end of the novandy bromance?

There never was one to begin with.
It was made up by the press and the two played along when they were not getting into each other's way as much as they do now.
Even when rafa wa beating andy all the time, when in a rapid fire question andy was asked rafa or Novak, he said rafa without even having to think much.

I guess...though this is the first time I've seen Andy this p-is-se-d off. He probably should be, given all the chances he's mucked up.

I can't help but feel that with each major win that Novak has over Andy...the farther they drift apart.

I agree quite a bit. Murray's forehand in particular has a tendency to break down a bit when the going gets tough, much due to the way he hits it. That can of course be exaggerated/instigated by physical and/or mental fatigue. But I don't think he was physically too tired today. The same happened when the going got tough in the middle of the match against Fed at Wimby 2012 (and more matches), and he wasn't physically outmatched there either.

I think the lesser margin on his strokes make them more susceptible to breaking slightly down at pivotal points. Ironically, Nadal has in turn had the exact same advantage against Novak in some matches (USO 2013 comes vividly to mind).
