Djokovic or Murray?

Given that this is Murray I already look forward to the "Wawrinka tired Djokovic out, won him the slam" should Murray win. Unless it happens to be windy or rainy, otherwise that will become why he won. Even though nobody is mentioning those as possible factors now, they only will become so for some people should he win.

I guess because he has been in more finals there than at any other Slam, including the 2 he won!

Definitely. He's been very consistent at the AO, but never won the title. Lost once to Federer, and twice to Nole.

But, he also won two Slams by beating Nole.

I can't wait for the final.

Although maybe thats because it has 2 of my favorite players in it.

I voted for Murray in 5 sets.

Is 3 wins out of 8 GS finals (never mind 2 out of 8 ) the worst conversion rate in tennis?

Obviously I ignore players who were in but never won GS final or finals (their rate is 0%)

They have a roof that will be closed if the elements become a factor.

Make it 71 vs 65. Voted Murray in 3 for the lols...

Murray: 'It Would be A Big Upset If I Win'

Andy Murray believes it would be a “big upset” if he were to beat four-time former champion Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final on Sunday.

“I know it's going to be extremely difficult to win the match tomorrow,” said three-time finalist Murray. “I know if I want to win, it will probably be very, very tough and challenging physically. So I need to prepare myself mentally for that.

“He has a fantastic record here. He obviously loves the court and the conditions. It would be a big upset if I manage to win tomorrow.”

Djokovic has won six of their past seven meetings since Murray’s historic title run at the 2012 US Open. He has also lost three times to Djokovic at Melbourne Park, including the 2011 and 2013 finals.

Novak Djokovic in 3,4,or 5. Novak Djokovic the January and February Man

Novak is familiar with Andy they first played each other in Juniors about the age of 12.

Cheers
3Fees :)

Not very excited for this. Probably least excited since 2013 RG final but that was after we had the reap final.

The problem is the styles combining plus, relatively, there is not that much on the line, compared to Murray trying to wim Wimbledon for example.

I was very excted for Kei v Marin though and it let me down, as it was not competitive.

Couldn't disagree more.

1) Clash of styles is always good. Someone has to give. Over 5 sets this will change, they always bring the best out of each other.
2) Not much on the line? You must be kidding. Record equalling 5 time winner vs first time AO winner
3) With Murray's form looking good, this is guaranteed to be competitive.

Supporting Muzza,now Stan's out.
I think this is his best chance to beat Nole.
Murray in 4,tight sets:6-4 7-6 6-7 7-5.
Nole might not have enough left mentally after his semi, plus he hasn't really played his best tennis to get to the final(in other words,Murray is in better form),and may struggle to raise his game.

I can't believe I am saying this, but the final would have been more exciting if Nadal was one of the finalists. Fed against one of Djokurray would have been great too but a slightly younger version of Fed who stood an equal chance as the opponent and not this old and weak version.

I can't put my finger on it but there is something about Djokurray matches that is a bit bland. Don't get me wrong, they are quite unpredictable and there not being a clear favorite is a very big plus, but somehow it is not the same as a Djokodal / Fedovic / Murral / Fedurray.

I hope we see a repeat of the AO 2012 semi (in terms of intensity and drama , not necessarily the end result) and not a repeat of their two final clashes.

Slamray is overdue his compensation from his runner up trophies.

Also Djokovic is overdue his slam donation to Murray.

Murray and Djokovic can put on some very high quality stuff.

AO 2012, a first couple of sets of USO 14, Shanghai 2012 come to mind...it is possible they can surpass all expectations and give us a wonderful final to remember.

I want Murray to hit his fh like he did in the first 2 sets of their USO encounter ...that will be something !

Yeah that was something.

What are your thoughts on this match? How do you think it will go and what are things that can decide this outcome for both players?

Yep some pretty good matches in the past between those two!!

I'd be surprised if Novak doesn't lift his level up from the Stan match.

One thing I did notice was that he was handling Murray's slice quite a bit better in their USO encounter ...but still Murray has this knack of keeping him uncomfortable ....more so on faster courts than on slower, but still ...

Nole on one hand has the confidence of winning 4 times here, but Murray is more conditioned to facing quality opposition as of now - vs dimitrov and vs berdych who both played well ...

Expect this to be a hard fought contest like their 12 encounter and the first 2 sets of their 13 encounter.

If not for the floating feather and the foot blister, Murray would've gone up 2 sets to love against Djokovic at AO 2013 final.

The first set of USO 2014 was also good. After that he faded.

Yes, but it appears to me that Murray is in better shape since that match. It looks like he has slimmed down a little and lost some muscle mass and seems to be more fit and moving better. I would be surprised if he faded out quickly.

His arms are huge now though, I noticed this in his semi, when he changed his shirt his biceps looked almost as big as Rafa's were at his peak.

I really hope Andy wins tomorrow, he deserves an AO crown.

Djoker in 4 and only because he can check out sometimes. Otherwise it would be Djoker in 3. The old Drama Queen Murray came out a few times recently so if Djoker keeps his head in the game Murray will implode emotionally.
