The first matchup featuring two top 10 players in the tournament. Matteo's been on fire to start 2021, shaking off injury and poor results last season, but Stefanos has looked equally as strong to start the season. Could be a barn burner! Who do you think wins this one?

Stefanos really doesn't like to chip the backhand return into play all too often, but I'm afraid Matteo is no Ymer or Simon on serve, this match has "bot-fest" written all over it IMO. Imma take TW's own Matteo in four tight sets.

I think this could go the distance or at the very least, be a tight four setter.

Also, is it crazy to say Rafa might prefer to play Stefanos compared to Matteo? I feel like he matches up a lot better against Tsits

Berrettini is a lousy mover with a bad backhand. He's a good matchup for Nadal.

He could beat Nadal, but he would have to bot. Tsitsipas could just play well and win.

It was international news that Berrettini was finally getting laid after months of drought, so I think he's the favorite.
Sauce please

I picked Tsitsipas in 4, I think he will be able to attack Bert's weaknesses and slowly chip away at his confidence.

On the other hand, if the Italian is hitting big on his serve and forehand, there might not be much the Greek can do.

You might think so because of the 1hbh. I think they're about even, but Tsitsipas is more dangerous on a good day.

He said after the Karen match he felt some "pull" from under his rib cage, but said the physio said there was no actual pulled muscle. Looks like he will be good to go.
What?
Let's hope Berretini loses straight sets and we get federer Nadal alike match in final quarter.
Nadal Tsitsipas will be an excited matchup

Berrettini withdraws. Tsitsipas through. This is not good news for Stefanos, who needed some match practice before his encounter with Rafa.

Oh, so that is why this match was scheduled for night over Nadal, to give Berrettini proper time to compete. I wonder how this will affect Tsitsipas now.

I would have liked to see where Stefanos' level is at before QF. He looked very good against Ymer, but Berrettini would have been a great test. But the rest is good I guess. At least he will have his tank full against Nadal.

I could smell the salt in your post
I don’t know about the salt, but as far as I know, the goat of tennis played with a 26 cm abdominal tear. That‘s an incredible feat. I don’t know of anyone else who could do that.

Khachanov was effectively 2 points away from winning hi R3 Match with Berrittini despite losing in straights. I knew that Khach' just needed to win that third set breaker. Berrittini most likely would've have tried to play on & go down 0-4 in the 4th & then promptly retire.

Kind of like the 5th set of Rafa/Cilic 2018 AO QF.

Quite hilarious really.

Match practice against a pretty dangerous opponent like Berrettini? I don't think he sees it that way, nor anyone else.

Imagine the confidence he could have got had he beaten Berrettini in straight sets. Would be the perfect momentum heading into that QF against Rafa

A player I dislike gets a w/o: "What a lucky *******"

A player I like gets a w/o: "What terrible luck, he's going to be undercooked for his next match"

rather than a tear that's more of a C-section

It's really quite incredible to be able to play with a 26in abdominal tear.
