Zverev will always be the same player in these matches. It was the same against Djokovic wich I called out, he was just extremely lucky Djokovic was injured cause he would have lost again like usual. He is just too passive when the chips are down.

It looks like Zverev is trying to win this with a power game, went for too much in rallies and made some unnecessary unforced errors. Sinner seems to be too good to be blown off the court, maybe Zed should try to beat him with the consistency/turn the match into a grind fest. May not be enough though, Sinner is rock solid and serves quite well.

Never did.

I wonder if Zverev had managed to sneak out the choke fest USO Final vs. Thiem would he play more freely in these matches with his slam cherry popped.
Still probably wouldnt have won that set, he didnt make many mistakes, but sinner capitalizes on each one of them, too solid, too calm

Sinner-Zverev 6:3

Now that Jannik has a set in his pocket, it will be difficult for Sascha to assert himself. When Jannik has momentum on his side, it's hard to get him out of it.

You never know, right? It's easy to say that he would have gotten so much confidence from it that he would have been a completely different player in terms of big match nerve, but then some people crumble once the crown is on their head. Ivanovic one that comes to mind. You could put Thiem in there as another one.

Just tuned in and by the looks of it Sinner took the first fairly comfortably meaning for now all is well

If this doesnt get physical zed has no chance, he needs to make this as long as possible, and Hope for a drop in level of sinner

Am I the only one who feels like this is a really dull and unsuspenseful vibe for a slam final so far. It would almost benefit from being bo3 to artificially inject some drama from the potential suddenness of the ending.

Zverev is getting dominated in rallies. He can’t afford to trade shots with Sinner. He needs to get more aggressive.

Z need to make his mind up here, aggression or grinding? Because if he loses this set, it's over.

0-30.

So far, it looks like the Rune match was the biggest test for Sinner in this tournament. Could have at least grabbed 2 sets if he had the least bit of restraint…

The reason Z has not won a single slam is on display currently.
Djokovic and Nadal had passages and passages of getting blown off the court by Fraud and vice versa.
While Fraud used to give up more, Djokodal never did, they stuck to the absolute basics and kept giving the best they could, eventually turning around matches.
Z had just given up before he even stepped on the court.

Yeah zed tactically Lost, normal, as he doesnt have many edges against sinner, if he misses the first serve, its always uphill for him, he has to risk too much

I thought set 1 was mostly good! Suspense obviously on the backfoot early in the second after so decisive and end to the first though.
