Right but alcaraz has stamina advantage.

If raz plays at his best I think he wins but he can try to do showboating a lot and then Djokovic has advantage.

Raz has immature attitude. Let's see..

I don't even think Alcaraz has a stamina advantage over Novak in a single match. Over the course of a tournament, Nole may have increased chances of coming out flat due to fatigue compared to Alcaraz but for a single match? I think Novak has more resolve and ability to manage the inevitable lulls due to fatigue than Carlos has.

Alcaraz straight sets. Djoker just too old. He should be in a retirement facility

If Carlos does lose he should retire. He has no business losing to a near 40 year old while he’s entering his peak years. Sinner or alcaraz shouldn’t be dropping sets period at this point to this mug tour of talentless bums or grandpa Nole. They should be the new Fedal of 2004-2008

Not to mention alcaraz didn’t even have to play 2 sets against crappy Draper. Heck it would be embarrassing if he even lost a set to Djoker truth be told

I think court conditions are going to play a huge factor. Carlos has been playing in the daytime heat all week while Novak has mainly had the evening conditions they're going to play in on Tuesday. Not to mention the overall career disparity in RLA experience. Medium paced AO night time is where Novak is the most comfortable, while also being the show court Alcaraz has the least experience on.

I fully expect Novak to break Alcaraz early (possibly the opening game) while Carlos struggles to adapt to the new conditions and find the proper range on his forehand. Alcaraz has come out of the gate serving kind of sloppy in the beginning of a bunch of his matches as it is, and that was without facing a returner anywhere near Djokovic's caliber.

But after the 1st set I suspect it'll be anyone's game. I'll take the 21 year old to eventually adapt and ultimately outlast Djokovic in 5.

The thing about these top guys is that they tend to hit the cruise control against lesser opponents early in tournaments then rev it up for the second week against better opponents. This happened all the time with the Big 3 when there was concern about their early tournament form then they took it up a few levels for the bigger matches.
I know that’s true for the Big 3. I’m not convinced it’s true for Alcaraz yet.

Yeah, because each of them (Nole and Carlos) got where they are by quitting when they lose. Nole at 38 is in the second week at a major, where 99.99% of the tennis players never get in their whole career. But he should be in a retirement facility. Well played my man, well played. Please let us know more life tips of yours. Thanks in advance!

No 38 year old should be beating a 21 year old in pro sports. I don’t care how great he used to be. Alcaraz has zero excuse not to put this old dog down especially when he basically just got a bye round LOL

Djokovic is currently serving well but he was doing that even in Wimbledon 2023 but then Carlos served better in the wind.

Even sinner while facing Carlos has half the times served well and half the times not as well.

Whenever sinner failed to serve above 60% he i think always lost. Djokovic will need to up that even more than 65 at this stage.

Last round Djokovic dropped below 60% while in Olympics final he was at 74%. Cold hard truth that day.

Exciting matchup, with Djokovic having the edge in form so far from what I’ve seen. He looked very sharp, 2023-ish, against Machac, though his physicality wasn’t tested at all.

Alcaraz can make this into a war of attrition if needed and if his game is not firing on all cylinders, this may be what he has to do, because a five setter is not at all ideal for Djokovic these days. Alcaraz has done it before at Wimbledon, he can do it again.

Picking Charles in five. Hope it’s a quality match from both with minimal or no walkabouts from either guy.

That's where brains come in.

Carlos has played sometimes brainless going for too much. Why? He can make it was of attrition.

Let's see how he actually plays. More defense or all out attack.

Not a bad call at all.

I have the feeling whoever wins this match will be exhausted and may lose against Zverev in semifinal.
I don't know who wins it. Rooting for Djokovic, obviously. I'm just glad to have at least a Djokovic-Alcaraz on a GS HC.

An opportunity to make a statement after last year's two Slam atrocities against Alcaraz and Sinner I suppose. Optimistic for this one given his steady improvement with each passing round. Send the silver boy home, Novak.

Please no whining from Thinskinovic about alleged poisonings  or anything else or from his cult members after Chuck destroys him. Just shake hands, acknowledge the crowd and quickly leave.

I'm thinking it goes Alcaraz in 5. Djokovic will really push him through 4 sets and then Alcaraz will win a fairly straight forward 5th set to take the match. Djokovic has shown well but as others have said, nobody has really taken it to him. Alcaraz will take it to him.

Basically Djokovic has advantage just on serve and normal groundstrokes. But alcaraz has better return and can attack as well as defend better

Djokovic better in neutral.

Alcaraz is the favourite for me in this, but we are talking very slim margins.

The biggest question mark for me is that Alcaraz has never beaten Novak in a hardcourt match before. AO is a pretty tough place to break that duck, particularly because the dead, lifeless conditions don’t allow Alcaraz to show the full spectrum of his game.

Djokovic has been supreme all last week. Its the best he has looked in Australia for probably five years.

With all that said, i’m still taking Alcaraz. I think it’s going to be slightly too tough for Novak to bring the physicality and ultra attacking game required to beat Alcaraz over a long five set match and balance that with the shot tolerance required to maintain consistency and bury Carlitos fully.

Alcaraz has been making lightning fast starts in almost every match. The fear I have for Djokovic is that he will drop 2 of the first three sets and leave hinself with too big a physical challenge to overcome.

Be careful with tennis insights. They use dirty data. I was explaining this to @socallefty yesterday when giving my prediction for the Lehecka match. Some fairly misleading infographics on there because of the metrics they use and how they interpret them.

How so ? This is based on hawk eye data. On what zones the players played the shots.
Things like extrapolations on RPM data based on total shots rather than totals separated by shot type. They scrape general unverified charting info from 3rd party providers, and then try to apply it to more specific statistical purposes than it is designed to be used for.

TBH no one knows anything about how the match is going to play out.

Djokovic has ATP finals 2023 to back on. Alcaraz has 2 freaking Wimbledon finals although Djokovic last year was not at his best.

That is what everyone likes. The uncertainty.

Raz can win in 4 or Djokovic. It doesn't matter. Both have great chances vs each other.
Wise words.

I have no clue who will win. And THAT is what makes this match so exciting. The unpredictability factor, which is the highest sign of a great rivalry.
