So it's a SF battle between the two folks who dispatched Alcaraz in 4 sets in back to back years.
Zverev has the game, but I highly doubt he has the mental capacity to get over the line. Only Sinner can beat Djoko now IMO
Zverev's best bet is to blitz early or make it very physical.

The GOAT eases past one of the major roadblocks in possibly achieving one of the greatest feats in tennis history if he can beat the top-3 in succession, also considering his age.

Can't even get close to beating 38 year old Djok with half a leg...

Well hopefully the ridiculous hype around Alcaraz dies down now.

Lost to him in Olympics too...

My upmost respect for this man, what he has given and continúes to give to tennis, the mental and tactical Game he has developed... I can only take my hat off, ive not always liked him but there is a point as a tennis fan where if you cant recognize what this man is doing its because your mind cant really process It the right way

Not going to happen. Because the alternative is admitting this is an asterisk era, which is something Djokovic fans were never able to do.

He hasn't achieved a whole lot at the AO in any case, the QF is as far as he's reached. He did, however, take out Novak in back-to-back Wimbledon finals which something no one else can claim - there is a justifiable amount of excitement around him
It's just the Big 3 comparisons which I think are pointless - let him chart his own path forward.

I hope sinner makes the final. Again you’re hyping this generation . I hope novak goes through all these guys. I don’t think sinner has been great. His serve can still be exploited.

Honestly. For the longest time I've thought both Alcaraz and Sinner were overrated so I don't mean to overhype them, Sinner's last year swayed me a little but I've always felt like neither of them compare to peak Big 4 and I say 4 instead of 3 because I think even prime Murray would school them both. I really want Djokovic to win this year but It's more to do with his age, the fitness and recovery time that I doubt he can go through all of them back to back.

He is the gift that keeps on giving.

I will never look at Alcaraz the same again in terms of his greatness relative to all time greats. You can't lose to a middle aged Djokovic this badly mind you and be considered an all time great.

There's no way Nadal, Federer or hell even prime Murray or Wawrinka would get punked by 38 year old Djokovic.
Hell, I bet even Zverev wins next round.

Perhaps Novak beating Carlos in Cincinnati 23 final was actually the breaking point, then last year Olympics further solidified it… (I know Novak lost Wimbledon to him last year, but we all know injured Novak had no chance)….

It’s obvious their game is more of mental now than physical

It's alway more a mental question. If you play, you know it.

He's a terrible hard court player relative to all time greats, he's going to have to pile up a lot of Wimbledon and French Opens because he's not even close to where he needs to be on Hard Courts. His only HC slam title was beating Tiafoe and Ruud to win it, beating a not even close to what he is now Sinner as well.

2 thoughts:

- Djokovic is too good.

- Alcaraz has power, but doesn't have what I call 'hand' during the rallies. Yes, he has good drops, and has good volleys and so on. But during groundstroke rallies he doesn't have hand, placement. He either hits too hard, or becomes too passive. But it is in that balance where rallies are won or lost. That's what I think is the difference between today's generation and the BIG 3. Today's generation is all about power, but Djoko, Rafa and Fed have better depth, placement and shot tolerance and that in tennis is king.

That being said I think Carlos has to improve his return, especially on the forehand side, and I think his backhand is passing too low over the net. And better physical condition (Stamina, speed, etc) Wouldn't hurt.
