I know Korda is smooth and chill, but I'd still say he looks more than just "chill" today - sort of lethargic. I've said it before - other than maybe his early career, I've never got any sort of "burning desire" vibe from him. That's fine, he's done better in tennis than probably 90% of players to attempt a pro tennis career, and he'll have a nice life because of how good he is at tennis. But, I'm not waiting for some big breakthrough anymore. I'd think he could still win this match even though he lost the first set.
Even if he had that burning desire his game just doesn't seem very effective. Who thought it was a good idea to teach a kid born in 2000 that the right way to play is to keep hitting hard flat shots down the middle? He gets so many opportunities to load up and hit forehands and I think over 90% of the time he just beams it down the center of the court. It's almost like he incapable of whipping a forehand into the corner for an easy winner. Even when he gets a sitter close to the net he can't seem to put it away with a sharp angle. He reminds me of Berdych except Berdych hit the ball a lot harder and had a much better serve.

Absolutely ludicrous that Korda has found himself in this precarious situation but the important thing is that he is going to find his way out.

I hope being a Korda fan is not going to be the same as being a Nishikori fan for the last 20 years. A great player who spends way too much time playing early round matches than he should, and the situation gets exacerbated because of his existing physical frailties.

Petch just reported that Bublik recently tried various new racquets and ended up dropping 40g!
Bought a bunch of frames and tried them out.
40g is a huge amount!
Faster swing more manoeuvrable.if you can keep the power up.
Looks like he can..
Racquet all blacked out. No sponsorship - guess existing deal to elapse.

Run Brooksby run:)

Horrible display from Korda - again. At this point I’m beginning to wonder if he actually likes playing tennis. On the match point double fault you could just see that he didn’t care anymore.

hasn't he been using PA 98 and switched to it?

Gil gross called this upset.

This Zheng kid is hustling and playing very steady. He deserves the 2 set lead he has right now. But man... Korda looks like he's sleep walking through the match.

I still think Korda can win this match, especially if it gets to a fifth set and Zheng gasses out. But, Seb's got to pick up the energy right away.
Exactly. There’s a reason Zheng won back-to-back NCAA titles, he plays SUCH solid tennis.

Massive win for him, excited to see how he fares in the 2nd round.

Like to support a player who's played college tennis.

Seems like it's much better for their future life to have got an education and mixed with their peers rather than spending their whole early adulthood on the circuit and barely knowing how to read a book.

...very beautiful choice of colors...nice color transition from top to bottom...this nike designer was inspired really ! ... :alien:

Carlos' kit is a direct copy in design of 2007 Nadal's IW- Miami Swing.

Nike just stopped trying for Tennis. I would rather have one of Sinner or Alcaraz move to Lacoste
