Can you imagine the absolute meltdown on this forum if Djokovic now goes on to win the title here? Mensik walkover, Musetti retirement and maybe Sinner will get cramp again in the semi?

They would run to their panic rooms screaming and crying while shaking their clenched fists in the air, WWWHHHYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

They really need to get over themselves :-D

Probably gonna get plastered by Sinner but man.. this is as good as it can get for him for #25.

Tennys Sandgren might be a nut job, but I really relate to that time he yelled on court: "I hate this stupid sport!" right about now.

It is going to be a tall task to beat both tiny and Mr. Cramper back to back at his age. Unless Carlos

This is alround bad for Sinner. Djokovic is going to make him play 5 sets and even if he doesn't cramp, he will be on fumes in the final like Madlad was couple years back. Djoker will be ready this time.

Shelton is the first high level player hes playing this tournement, Sinner will suffer
Looks like you are watching Ben play first time. Nothing has changed in his approach to tennis. He still thinks he can play like American handball(NFL) or basketball where they show off like they won the game after a touchdown or basket. There you can sit after your assumed great achievement, not in tennis, you got to show up the next second again.

The weather forecast is for 30 degrees, he isn’t cramping in that temperature.

Yeah, you're showing your bias a bit there, and I'm not even a fan of either sport. In both, the guy who celebrated definitely needs to keep "showing up." Just a silly comment. Why am I responding?

Hopefully I didn't come across as condescending(not the intent), that is the problem, Ben does not show up. He didn't even push Sinner who clearly is physically not 100% to even a 4th set.

Didn’t get around to this until now, but classic Daniil PC. Even though his movement was clearly hindered by the strapping, he didn’t make one mention of being tired or physically compromised, zero excuses. Zverev could learn a thing or two from this.

In the meantime, nothing to do but root for Novak and then try to get as many points as possible the next 7 months.

I just watched.

Novak Djokovic is the greatest tennis player who’s ever lived. End of story.

For an extremely rare time, heart defeated talent.

And for all the Sinner fans that will undoubtedly complain about Novak’s bailout in this event…considering how they acted after Wimbledon last year, all I have to say is you reap what you sow.

Go NoleGoat . Get that 25th major. #LifeBeginsAt38

As a supporter of Sinner (and Moutet), there is only one thing I have to say: Vamos Carlitos!

Come on Alcaraz, show this clown Djokovic that his nonsense will not work again.

I’d have said Sinner is a lock for this because this tournament uses the super slow, ultra-dead Dunlop AO balls, but Medvedev seemed to imply they might be faster this year, which helps Carlos. I’ll still say Sinner, but it’s 70-30. CA can still run into some trouble against a big, flat hitter in night conditions, and he puts a disproportionate amount of pressure on himself to win this particular event, which is probably why he let Novak get in his head last year.

A lot of people are hyping Bublik, but I think he will flop. He never does well in back-to-back events. And Musetti is my darkhorse, I think people are really underestimating him (though yes, I still wouldn’t be surprised if he went out early).

Beyond that, I’m dreading this event. As a Daniil fan it’s my white whale, and I know the odds are almost impossible for him. And once he’s lost, that means the dream of there being justice for that hellish night 4 years ago (and then reliving the trauma over two years later) is over for another year, and who knows how many more years there will be. All there is to do is pray to God, even though it is wrong and idolatry, that he can provide the miracles he needs.
Lol I was right about the balls again!

If Daniil is right that all the balls are trending lighter, definitely sell Sinner stock and buy some Alcaraz.

Keep us southerners in your thoughts again. We dodged a big bullet last weekend with the ice storm mostly being a bust, but now we’re about to get a SNOW storm. Which wouldn’t ordinarily be much of a problem, but when you stack it on top of ice…can be an issue. And it’s not an exaggeration to say it hasn’t gotten this cold here in a long time. We don’t know about sub-0 wind chills here in the Carolinas.

Doubles final was fun. I know this is Men's Singles thread, but it's worth noting. Was looking for a doubles thread. Ryan Harrison crying for his little bro. Skupski-Harrison defeat Polmans-Kubler 7-6, 6-4.

I was the same - no doubles thread so posting here.

Great for Christian Harrison (partnering Neil Skupski) to get his name etched into a GS trophy just like his brother Ryan did nearly 9 years ago at RG (partnering Michael Venus.)

A new pairing for the season and they already have a major together - great decision by both (albeit with Salisbury taking a break due to anxiety but I know he will be overjoyed for Neil Skupski).

Skupski now on 2 MD majors and 2 XD. Now let's see what this pairing can do for the rest of the season!

how was Neil's serve? i watched their semi and he was getting eaten alive by Zeballos/Granollers. Something he should work on, albeit he's nearing 40 lol

Spotty. There were some phases when he didn't look confident, had some DFs, and the other team were picking on it. But, they were able to get through it. If I remember correctly, he had one game in the second set where he was down 0-40 or 15-40 and was able to hold after some nervy serving.

Video in link, from our local news on-site.

It looked last night like this might actually be a bust, but we’ve definitely gotten some significant snowfall.

My parents swear that we’ve gotten 7-8”. I’ll say it’s more like 6.
