Djokovic..........................

Naturally I hope delPotro will win, but I'd be happy too if Nole took the title, especially after his debacle with the heat exhaution last year ...... He's looking very good at Kooyong this week! :)

I voted for Davy:)

Mainly because I'd like him to win!

I'd like Murray to do well also:)

But, I think the sensible money is on Novak this year!

Or maybe Federer:)

I think Davy really deserve one. He come a long way and would be fitting for him to finally get a GS under his belt.

TMF is the best poster of all time.

Before the new year I was convinced it would be Del Potro because I didn't think that Roger or Rafa would be in very good form going into the AO.

I think I was wrong, they both look to be in great form!

I'm voting for Nadal because I think that Fed's minor wrist problem (along with just age, in general) might hold him back, but otherwise very little is separating the two. Also, I'm a Nadal fan so, obviously, he gets the nod.

If the draw is generous enough, I'm going to tip Nadal to defend his title.

Vamos Rafa!!! :)

Federer hasn't won this Slam in a while.. I think he'll do it again.

Reasons? He's Federer, that's all.

My other candidate would be Nadal.

davydenko will win he is confident

2nd favourite andy murray

I agree!

But I am still the only person to vote for Davy!

In fact I was the only person to vote for Davy to win the end of year WTF masters, and look what happened there:)

I am going to go out on a bit of a limb and predict Davydenko to take the title. If he can play as well as he has the last 3 months for 7 matches, and be mentally and physically tough enough in those 1 or 2 really tough encounters, then there is no reason he cant win his 1st slam here. He is going to have to do it soon if he is going to, he is no spring chicken in tennis terms.

I am amazed at so few predictions for Del Potro. I would have guessed him getting alot more votes. I do know he is pulling out of this weeks event with a wrist injury though.

Im not. The AO-surface might be to slow for him.

Considering Del Potro retired from Kooyong because of a wrist injury his preparation isn`t ideal and for sure i wouldn`t put a bet on him at the moment

Looks like Nadal is in great form and he will have a chance to further fine tune his level in the first week. I am going for Rafa to take AO this year. VAMOS RAFA! :)

Djokovic to take his second AO.

For those who take Djokovic's loss to Verdasco in Kooyong as serious, its the same as thinking Federer's loss in Abu Dhabi as being something alarming.

I dont know about djokovic winning for sure but I agree. Djokovic cannot be underestimated. He is a serious competitor for the title.

Verdasco absolutely wiped the floor with him

Props to Verdasco but Novak was just self destructing with errors, maybe wind bothered him, who knows.
Either way, Nole said in press that result is unimportant for him and said it was fine practise.

Marsel ilhan will win the title :)

Anyway, there are multiple favorites for this one but ı dont think davy, soderling or roddick has a chance to win the title.

My favorites are federer, nadal and djokovic. I wont be suprised if murray wins his first.

It seems del potro has a injury problem, even if it doesnt affect his praticipation he wont be totally ready for hard fights.

For what I've seen since the start of the season, I think Nadal is the clear favourite. Not to mention the possibility of Del Potro and Soderling pulling out. If so, who is Nadal going to lose to?

I havent said Verdasco wasnt better, I just said wind maybe troubled Novak since its not usual from him to have so much UE-s.

Did you actually watch the match? Maybe forced errors from Verdasco instead of UE's from Djokovic? How else would you explain the thrashing of Haas the previous day? Verdasco was obviously playing well.

Kao sto je teren protiv tamo nekog Azerbejdzana bio kriv

Wind was there for both of them
Of course, its obvious Novak cant handle it like Verdasco.

Man, I said Verdasco was playing better jeez. I'm just saying its not usual for Novak to make so many UE, if you think they were all forced errors from Verdasco I let you live in your world, whatever.

I want Murray to win but I make Roger the favourite to win.

Really? Why is that? Roger hasn't won a tournament since Cincinatti, losing two hardcourt tournaments he desperately wanted. Especially WTF seemed up for grabs after Nadal, Novak and Andy Murray were out. And in that US Open he really had it all in his hands.. I am a Roger fan, so I voted for Roger, but really my confidence isn't that high atm. He can lose to any of the top 10 these days.

It's a non-clay grand slam and Roger Federer - I find it difficult to see past him even if his form isn't stellar. I'll probably still make Roger the favourite for the first couple of slams after he retires :)

The man's record speaks for itself.

yes, the man's records do. However, of the last 3 HC Grandslams he ONLY won Cincinnati. ;)

I think he's figured out Murray a little, but am a bit more nervous about Nadal or Del Potro or Davydenko.

I'll go ahead and vote for Del. He did look good in his one match at Kooyong, but one match as prep for AO? ..... He did play several exos in December . . .

I wonder.. Del Potro is really steady, but I think on hardcourts, faster courts suit him a lot better. Look what happened here to him last year. Ouch, that was a masterclass.

Yeah - I think that too. Murray needs a win v Roger. Murray's serve is the key - he must serve about as well as he can to stand a chance. Last couple of matches he hasn't served too well (and Roger has played well too of course - I'm not saying for a minute that Murray's serve is everything in the matchup - just that it's key if Murray is to have nay chance to win.

Matchups are funny things - look at Murray's record v Delpo; 4-0 on hards; three of them in the last year and the other one in a slam.

I'm hoping for these quarters:

Djokovic-Roddick
Federer-Soderling
Murray-Delpo
Nadal-Davydenko

That's because I think the first three are really intruiging matchups and would be great matches, and the fourth because I think Fed would be comfortable with Sod, Rod and Djokovic in his half. The bottomhalf would be really really interesting.

To respond on the Roger-Murray thing. I think Federer was playing his old tennis at Cincinatti, so no strange things there, because I think that 2006 Federer would be 8-2 against Murray by now. However, the one at the WTF really kind of surprised me. I think Murray's second serve is really a liability and that especially in important matches Federer really likes to take control of those points.

I wouldn't mind that lineup myself. I just hope Murray makes it that far - AO is the only slam where he hasn't made at least QFs - then again; it is only 18 months since Murray made his first slam QF - I sometimes forget that.

Murray needs to play the way he played Nadal to have my liking. He needs to play his own brand of tennis to win Slams. BUT he should have plan B and C. The way he lost to Cilic was just an embarrassement. I don't think he didn't put in the effort, but I think he was tactically flat, which will never happen to Nadal and ESPECIALLY Federer. When Federer loses rallies, he comes in, when he loses at net, he goes for big second serves etc. etc. Federer can lose, but never by sticking to one gameplan and just getting torn apart (apart from RG08 final maybe).

I love Murray's touch, his dropshots, lobs and netplay, but I really think he's often giving the opponent the 'match on his racquet'. I think Federer is right in saying the match is often on the attacker's racquet. If he makes his shots, he'll win. Cilic was red hot, but a defender loses to a redhot player (i.e. Nadal against Gonzalez, Tsonga, Del Potro, Blake, Soderling in the past).. An attacking player like Federer rarely does.
