Incidentally this seems to be another example of how citing SF form when trying to overrate a losing performance in a F is absolute crap (looking at you Djoker fans with Wim 15 F and USO 23 F)

Sinner appears to have been unable to replicate his consistency and power from Friday whatsoever

Djokovic couldn't keep the ball in the court last match, he was playing like crap. Here he is playing someone who isn't missing while being aggressive. I don't think Sinner's level here is much lower compared to his SF.

It's not over yet, don't forget matches like Gaudio-Coria, or even AO final from 2 years ago. However, it shows once again why the next gen cannot be trusted, and why they aren't better than the previous generation.

You just know that if there were 1 more match after this and it involved Djokodal, this Meddy would disappear lol

But I’m really happy for Med if he does win this one tbh. He would have been heading for Muzz territory here with 0-3 and counting and no-one wants to see that (except @Kralingen )

Wow, 5-1 Medvedev has stunned Sinner with this new game.

First strike tennis at it's finest.
You just never know in tennis. I mean it can all change. However, must of us thought after Djokovic slowing down it would be alcaraz/sinner to take over. However, Meddy from the 90s group is trying to have his say that he far from done. There are so many stories in tennis right now.

For sure.

-------------------------------

Sinner has been giving Med nothing but rhythm not sure he has it in his game to change it up.

Doubt it. And he's not getting the purchase he was getting in the day conditions and isn't able to overwhelm his opponent (who is anticipating extremely well) with just a basic high octane baseline rhythm, so now he looks distinctly out of ideas. Meddy is tactically mugging him. Sinner needs big help from Medvedev to get back into this match, methinks.

First comfortable hold in a long while. It seems that break back loosened Sinner up a bit. Let's see if he can break again here.

Isn't that obvious? Guy is totally wetting the bed in his first slam despite only playing Medvedev, cementing himself as a typical mug like the rest of them.
I think playing Medvedev is difficult mentally. If Sinner would have played the big 3 he would have been the underdog and could have played freely having nothing to loose.

If he played an inexperienced and much worse player (Ruud, Puerta) then he would have the pressure but an easy opponent (who might be nervous too)

But medvedev is not much worse player and very experienced (7th slam final) and sinner is the favorite…
