Fritza was so close the last time they played here. You can bet he's been waiting for another chance to have his sweet revenge.

Unless Fritz play out of his mind or Novak playing really below par or he get an injury, I don't see Fritz hurting Novak

Never can wrote Fritz off completely as he has a huge serve and when on can really blast his ground strokes..

Having said that to have real chance of winning he will have to be in the zone and Novak a little off his game. I will go for Novak in 4 hard fought sets.

The thing is i think Taylor has to adopt similar tactics to US open match and be really aggressive.

That is the only way he will have decent shot at taking Novak out, however, he has to eliminate the UE count as per their US Open Q/F.

Technically with his serve and big all round hard hitting he should have a decent shot at giving Novak a really hard time, however, he has to believe that himself.

If he wins the first set this could be a titanic battle but if Novak gets out in front it will be really tough for Taylor to come back, especially based on past encounters.

I think Fritz has a chance. He did not play well at all last time he played Novak, but unlike so many it seems, I think Fritz actually has real self belief that he can beat Novak. We will see. Certainly a lot of money to be made if someone thinks Fritz will win. His game does not match up that badly vs Novak.

Why in the world would Fritz have any self belief when he's 0-8 against Novak and has won only 2 sets against him in his entire career? Djokovic has also bageled him 3 times. The last time they played was at the USO last year and Djoker destroyed him with Fritz winning 7 games.

Nobody would have any self belief after so many one-sided beatdowns.

Djokovic in 3! He looks locked in now and Fritz is a great matchup for him.
A tight first set where Fritz breaks Djokovic in a 15 minute long service game at 2-2, roaring like a tiger in before shanks 2 double faults and 2 unforced errors in the next game to surrender the break back. Few holds follow until its 5-5; Djokovic saves a break point in that game via a brutal rally, igniting the crowd before breaking to 15 in the next game, winning the set 7-5.
Next 2 sets are 6-2 6-1 Djokovic.

Three sets, no tiebreak. Fritz sadly just doesn’t have the athleticism to challenge Novak. The second he’s on the move, it’s point over.
He is getting better on the move. See his match vs Tsisipas.
He also hits now BHDTL winners out of nowhere, quite stunning
Archilles heel will be his Return of Serve i think

Whether or not his self belief is justified, that is another question ha. I just feel he has it. Who knows though.

A big part of Fritz's issues is an utter lack of self belief, even when he's playing well. I think the only big match he's ever won was at IW when Rafa was legitimately injured and clearly hampered. I honestly think he has <1% chance against Djoker and then only if Novak breaks his femur and has to retire.

Djokovic will win this. The usual borefest.

One visit to this thread is more than enough with that video clip

If what I saw yesterday was Novak with the flu, I can’t imagine how he’d be when feeling better. He was wicked good. I’d love to think Fritz could win and you never, ever can be sure, but nope, I just can’t see it. Hope I’m wrong.

Ok so alcaraz who is lesser of a tennis player than Djokovic would probably get stretched to five and you will enjoy it

While the GOAT dismantling everyone is so boring to you ???

No wonder you are fan of another Spaniard who made things way too hard for himself for no reason

Absolutely. Djokovic dismantling everyone all the time is extremely boring. I couldn’t care less how good he is. His tennis is boring. Him winning all the time is boring. Alcaraz is a kid at the start of his career. I find him a far more interesting and exciting player than the Serbian robot. That’s my perogative. We don’t all like the same players. No need to sneer condescendingly.

Yes Rafans do love too much effort for no reason. I have seen too many of Rafans polluting Djokovic threads with shades like borefest. Don't be condescending here

Not a relevant response really. I usually don’t bother with Djokovic threads. Someone rolling over the opposition time and again is boring. It’s irrelevant whether the opposition is not good enough. It’s dull. Sport is about competition. Non competitive tennis doesn’t engage people. Who wants to tune into something knowing the end result all the time. It’s not his fault of course. It’s just how it is. The sooner it ends the better.

Novak is the clear favorite given his form, the tournament, and their H2H. But then, anything can happen in tennis. I hope Novak prepare well for this match.

You are the one spoiling this thread.

What don't usually bother with his matches. Is there an invitation here.
