Here we go. The match-up not many expected but tennis needed.

Medvedev versus Zverev for that first time at a Grand Slam level despite playing 18 times against each other.

Who's gonna take it and play for his first Australian Open title on Sunday?

Vote and discuss.

The match will most likely be at night again and thus Zverev is slight favourite for me.

Night conditions suit Zverev.

anyway i don 't know what you're thinking , but if med is in final and face novak djokovic , i will expect med to win
even if med lose djokovic in final , what medvedev lose ? still us open is left and it 's time to that med to win second slam

LOL,,, what ?? medvedev is now very scared of novak. after beating him once,,,he must think he got lucky that time. and also he has no reply to Novak's serve and volley game which is like 99 % effective against medvedev. but No worries,, Sinner will be there not novak

Hopefully Zverev wins. With how he played the first two sets vs Alcaraz he has a decent chance vs Djokovic. Medvedev on the other hand likely won't do anything.

How do you define "decent" in this context? 10%?
I really struggle to picture him serving 90+ first serves against Novak in a Slam Final...

anyway it's medvedev 's best chance
after QF , it seems like medvedev knows how don 't lose
and novak djokovic seems like really could lost sinner in SF

Medvedev is definitely the favourite in this matchup. None of them will beat Djokovic, but both can beat Sinner, and Sinner can beat Djokovic. So it’s really going to be an exciting ending for this AO.

That's crazy... 18 matches, 0 in a Slam. That must be another record.

Medvedev won 5 of the 6 matches last year, and he looks fresher. He is clearly the favorite.

How can Medvedev be fresher? He was dead after the match with Hurkacz, he played for 4 hours, Zverev played for 3 hours.

Both guys spent a lot of time on the court so neither are fresh.

It does look good for the winner of Djokovic/Sinner to get title as they fresher and probably go first too.

Medvedev owns this guy like 90% of the time anyway, but between the relatively late finish of the match today and the state he's in (blisters, bleeding under his friggin' toenails) there's no way Zverev has a chance here, shirley?

Alcaraz had three primary problems today - Couldn't get easy points on serve, couldn't get into Zverev's return games, made too many easy errors. Medvedev, unless he just has a nightmare, shouldn't have any of those issues. His serve is much better, his return is much better, he has no problem passively rallying all day and never going for too much.

Zed takes the whole thing... meddy has been looking terrible so far and tired. Sinner vs Novak winner gonna come out tired. Zed Australian Open Champion 2024.

Medvedev to win is about the most lock of a bet you’ll ever see. I would be absolutely flabbergasted if he lost.

Meddy has the advantage in the BH duels in this one. Zverev needs his FH and serve on a very high level like against as Alcaraz to pull this off.

Meddy is the safer pick but Zverev has a chance especially if he can produce a similar performance to tonight.

Zed looked great today, if he can bring that form he has a chance but Med will chase down everything and make him grind. Will be a great tactical match as well.

The Zedrot is going to win this in 4 most boring sets of tennis, which is nothing less than the ultimate prove that dark and malevolent forces have taken control of the entire universe.

Honestly, this one is super hard to call. The Alcaraz match was such an outlier in Zed's performance at this tournament. Prior to the quarters, Z won just 15% of return games – then he broke Alcaraz a whopping 7 times! On the other hand, his serve has been strong all tournament long. He's holding almost 90% of the time and hasn't had a single match under 70% first-serves-in (with the Alcaraz match once again a big outlier with 85% in). Med on the other hand has not yet had any big leap in form. His serve is very vulnerable this year – he's holding just 82% of the time – but he's winning a lot more on return than Zverev. Both have looked tired physically and been on court for more than 16 hours.

I could see either one or both turning up completely flat to this semi. Probably a boring grindfest with both guys lacking intensity and focus, with the scrappiest one advancing. On the other hand, if Zed stays dialed in on serve, that might be enough to see him through a tired Medvedev. Med was out-returned by Hurkacz of all people just last round (the Pole broke more and won many more return points), and Zed is, in general, a much better returner and much better baseliner than Hurkacz – and when his serve is clicking he's equally as scary on the first delivery. That doesn't really bode well for Med. I guess I'll vote Zverev in five.

Even if this is a GS match not happened before between those 2, that 10-2 streak for Meddy says clearly that Alex is his biAtch
However, since the horrible bullying the awful german is suffering because of the off-court issues, I won't be bothered if he wins, but I prefer Meddy and I think he will get in Z's head to win this match

What a time to be alive

LOL, that's harsh

I love this match, unexpected combination and both of them drive ppl here nuts :D..,perfect

Yep. I like the russian, a genuine and cool guy. In the other hand, Zverev has the personality of a potato, but lately I am liking the guy a bit

I knew Alcaraz was gonna have a very tough tournament when seeing Medvedev and Zverev on his side of the draw!
As for this match, hoping Alexander the Great maintains this level and gets it done.

Medvedev +500 for the title is a literal gift.
For some reason I feel like it'll be Sinner-Daniil with Daniil winning but if you ask me to pick the semis I'd pick Novak and Sascha so make that make sense. For some reason I have a gut feeling this weekend will go in totally unexpected ways.

Zverev has literally zero chance. I won’t even turn this on.
Most thought he had zero chance against Carlos, yet the sickening dirtbag prevailed. Med hasn't exactly looked great this tournament. He's playing passively and not dictating play at all. Zedrot keeps finding ways to hang on and win.

Another match where we have to watch the GF in his box with the 7,000 tacky tats. She even has a tat of her ex above her left elbow. :-D

It does feel like that doesn’t it?

I definitely think we’ll see some big time fluctuation in level between the SF and F for whoever makes it, and probably a lot of momentum swings in each match as each guy plays well for a set then falls off a bit. I could very easily see a scenario where the winner of either SF plays the match of his life and then lays an egg in the F, or vice versa, winning the SF with their C game and then they play totally different in the F.

The one thing I can’t see: Zverev taking 3 sets from Medvedev. He has so many hours on his legs and Med owns him, like owns him owns him mentally now. He’ll get Z’s serve back in play, he’ll force him into leg sapping rallies, and he’ll make him hit 25 forehand winners and 25 volley winners to actually win the match. Z doesn’t have it in him mentally or physically to play the sustained aggressive tennis he needs to beat the ultimate Pusher in Medvedev over 5 sets.

I do agree that Med has huge mental advantage over Zverev right now, that will be very tough for Sasha to overcome.

Unless he serves lights out again like today i think Med will smother him in the end and win in 4 sets.

The Novak-Sinner match is really tough to call as i think Sinner's level in last 2 months has been little bit better than Novak's. However, it is BO5 and Novak's favourite GS so he will have mental edge should it go really tight into a 5th set.

I just have feeling it is Sinner's year but i hope Novak can prove me wrong.

I've watched a lot of Medvedev this tournament and he has not impressed me. He definitely has not found his A game yet but maybe Zed will bring it out of him. Playing Carlos forces Zed to actually attack with his FH and if he can keep that up he's a genuinely top flight player. Z with it all flowing is scary I don't know if that's what happened last night because I didn't watch but it sure seems like it and if that's the case I think his top game beats Meddy's top game and Med's not even on his top game.

Of course the big concern with Zverev is can he keep it up and will his mental muggery cause him to lose and I totally feel you if you pick Med based on that but to me it seems like Zverev's due to get over the SF hump. As far as the physicality thing goes I see no reason to question Zverev's legs if you're not going to also question Daniil's. They've had to play the same amount of sets here and Med played the more recent 5 setter.

Last reason I like Z is because I think night conditions favor him. That being said Zverev will lose because it's Zverev.

Zverev has in theory the highest peak, but mentally Medvedev now almost completely owns him. If Zverev wins it would mean that he is no longer a mental midget in the biggest matches of the his career and I just can't see it.

As the very same Alex said post match, he has kicked his butt so many times, but a Grand Slam is a different beast. Having said that, Meddy in 3 sets and some bakery products :-D
