Automatic log off...sorry but I hate it....

Why is it there? why does this happen? I was writing a pretty long post about the Fiesta Bowl and when I clicked on submit new thread...it says sorry but you are not logged in. This really sucks...really sorry to say it but I have to. Is there any way I can remove this option?

Edit: I don't "hate" it but I do strongly dislike it.

Really? My log in is permanent. Have you put the check for "Remember Me?.

if you hit the back button , you would have found your post as it is and copied it , then when you log in back you could post it again ..

probably the reason for what happenned to you is that you emptied your temporary internet files so the cookies the site put on your pc to recognize you was gone so you need to log in again ..

you're right on your first segment of the phrase if he didn't check the remember box he would be signed out , as for your last segment : you can't totally shut off cookies acceptence , there would be still a small portion that must get in to continue browsing otherwise you won't be able to browse at all ..

Yes, if you don't check "Remember Me", then it logs you out after several minutes of inactivity. Pretty annoying especially after you just wrote a long post and was trying to submit it, it tells you that you're not logged in which makes your heart jump a beat. However, I believe after you log in, it does continue to submit your post for you or at least get you back to the screen you were on.

Once you 'log out', the 'remember me' function is cancelled, and you have to log in again with your password next time.

That said, it would be very nice if the 'automatic log off' time were extended to, say... 2 or 3 hours.
Is there a valid reason for it to not be?
