Avery M3 surprisingly great (and mini review of K95 and K95x)

seacard

Rookie
So I'm demoing the K95 ( 16x18 ), K95X, and the Avery M3 Power. Still waiting to get the K95 (18x20)

The K95 ( 16x18 ) is a great racquet, but felt a little lively for me. I'm used to the Prestige line, and am accustomed to a tighter pattern. The racquet feels incredibly solid, but the ball really floated on me. If I hit with the right form, this was not a problem, but even a slight shortening of the swing, or loss in racquet speed was enough to make the ball float.

K95x -- I actually liked this racquet a little better. On serves and two-handed backhands, it gave me a bit of an advantage. On forehands, if I set up early, it was terrific. But it definitely felt sluggish at times. After about 4 games, I got used to it, but it still felt slightly less maneuverable at the net.

The surprise of the demos was the Avery M3 Power. I started playing without the dampener and thought it was a bit too lively and had too much vibration. But then I put one on, and it was surprisingly even more solid than the K95s. It was also more maneuverable than the 95x, and as maneuverable as the 16x18. Great, classic feel.

So, after day 1 of the demos, I'd say my order so far is:

M3
K95x
K95 ( 16x18 )

Only one of these racquets can survive to face off the K95 (18x10).

Has anybody else tried the M3 Power? Any thoughts or experiences?

Haven't tried the M3 Power, but am playing with the M3 Control as my main and back-up racket(s). Great feel and control in addition to being the best serving racket I've hit with lately.

The head light Control is a terrific doubles racket.

Interesting comments. Avery rackets seem similar to the ProKennex heritage range (redondo etc)? I s that a fair comment, or are there differences? Both Avery and ProKennex seem to have many fans on these forums.

I only used a PK Redondo briefly and really did not take to it. I found its swingweight to be much more than the Avery. The Avery is more remaniscent of the Prince POG, except that the Avery M3 Control is more head-light. That is the + for the Control the balance allows you to really control the mass. Makes for great serves and volleys.

The PK racket most like the Avery in feel, that I know of is the PK Core 1 #6.
