Bab 2016 PS 16 x 19 published vs my actual swing weights

I have two of the above. The published variance numbers are a 14 gram weight window and 14 mm balance window unstrung. TW weights, balance, and swing weights are based on an average of XX number of strung samples. The TW published numbers are 11.2 oz, 4 pts HL, and SW of 323.

Mine are kitted out exactly the same way: same string, same overgrip, same rubber band string dampner.

I performed the weight, balance, and swing weight measurements and calculations as described on our hosts TWU. To get a good timing for 10 swings, I did 5 measurements of each swing cycle.

My numbers: Weight 319/327, (11.25/11.5 oz.'s)balance 329/331 (4/3 pts HL), and swing weight 332/341

I knew they had a higher swing weight then my 2012 PD's. So I did one of them, and it came out to 11.3, 5 HL, (both very close to book spec) and 323 swing weight (14 higher then book).

Has anyone else had the same experience? Meaning swing weight is much higher then book?

I can sure tell the difference in a quarter oz and 9 points of swing weight.

Due to Babolat's poor QC, I paid TW the fee to pull 3 matching PS 16X19. I ended up getting 305 grams unstrung and a 298 swingweight- which equates to 328 swingweight strung.

OP: What are your frames strung with? The average specs you find in Racquet Finder may not be strung with poly. Poly strings can add about 5 grams extra to the head of the frame. Depends on gauge of the poly. You should search racquet finder or ask TW what strings they use to get their averages. I suspect SG since who in their right mind want to string up a bunch of frames with expensive polys for testing purposes.

Your frames would still not match, but be within Babolat's QC window. I am a proponent of matching frames unstrung with no OG for balance and mass. Then add a few strings at the tip, get mass, balance and SW and try to match all three again. A pro shop with an RDC could match unstrung frames easily.

Mine are strung with an 18 gauge poly in the mains and 16 guage multi in the crosses.

A 14 gram weight tolerance is .493 OZ and 14 mm balance is .56 inches, which is roughly 5 points. A Bab PS 16x19 98 off the shelf could be 10.555 oz's and 9.5HL or 11.05 oz's and 4.5 HL and still be in spec. Strung up 11 and 5 HL or 11.5 and 0HL. Those would feel completely different and either give one a false sense of hope or dash expectations.

To anyone in the manufacturing business: is a 4.5 percent window considered acceptable?

Esgee, what is OG?
The local PGA Superstore has a Bab RDC machine that no one knows how to use. The only other one I found is at a local shop that has multi outlets and they won't allow individuals to put there racquets on it. They use it as TW does to match a couple racquets.

Just picked up two more off ****. When they come, I'll measure them naked and see what I get. If anyone is interested I'll post the numbers.

OG = over grip.

You can offer to pay the pro shop to match your naked racquets if they have an RDC. For 3 minutes of work, $5-10/frame is pretty good for them.

I assume you were using the same string in your frames when measuring SW. I string the 2 central mains and the either the 3/4 or the 2/3 crosses. That gives me the hang point for est SW.

Check out this thread. You may be able to obtain a manual for the RDC which you can use to teach the Superstore people how to use theirs.

I haven't checked any of the other measurements but my son has 2 of the PS 100 2016 versions, one is 11.15 ounces, the other is 11.45, same everything. He likes the heavy one. I have them weighted the same but need to check SW and balance pt.
