Babalot Pure Storm Ltd with more power

Hello,

I love the Babalot Pure Storm Ltd frame (2008 version). However, my game is not good enough to generate the power it requires. I am fooling around with the strings now to see if I can increase power.

I was wondering if there are newer frames that would be similar to this one with more power. I like everything about this frame except the power issue.

Thanks in advance
JRS

You may want to check out the Prestige MP series. If you want a lot more power check out the Graphene version. The IG would be moderately more powerful. You could also look at the Prince Tour 95/rebel 95.

I used this LTD for a while and loved it for its low power and control.

I've been playing with a slightly leaded PSL GT for the last 2 years. I can't get over how nice it feels although I know I could probably play better with another racket.

A few weeks ago a buddy of mine who usually plays with a Babolat Pure Strike (and historically APD) used my racket while we were out. FWIW we are both 4.0 players. I was in sheer disbelief of how much less was on his shots, power and spin - everything. I knew right there I needed to switch.

I have been in the process of demoing ever since and can't find the right one and was excited when I saw this thread live. I'm interested to hear the suggestions others have.

That's funny. that's why I quit using them as well. I was playing a very tight three setter and at the middle of the third the guy broke a string and ask to borrow one of mine. We was using the PDR and his pace and spin went WAY down. He went from having a really big serve to having a regular serve. I could tell he was noticing as well by the look on his face.

I have hit with the new Pure Control Line. I didn't care for it. it is very hollow/vague feeling. I would think the Strike Tour might be a good option as well.

Another option is the POG 100. It has a little more power that the LTD, but with the same amount of control. The Spin in much better than the LTD. The extra power is not going to blow you away, but it will allow you to not have a huge adjustment period to the POG verses another stick. There's not a lot out there that plays like a LTD anymore.

The LTD is not a power racquet to begin with. It is best for those players who have really strong strokes who need more control. It also depends on the opponent. In the 3 years that I used the LTD, I suffered the most against weaker opponents who didn't generate a lot of pace to begin with, so I had to step up and hit harder to keep the pressure up.

I also used the Pure Storm Tour when I needed more power. I've since moved on to the PK Ki5 315 which is a good blend of the control of the LTD and the power of the Tour.

I read in another thread Pure Control 95 is updated version of Pure Storm LTD.

Here is the link to that product. The video review mentioned there is plus version with more power.

Here is the link to the Pure Control Plus - reviewers loved this blade - guess I will have to demo this....it would be awesome if it has the same feel with more power!

Add lead to bring the swingweight up past 330.
Play with powerful mains, multi or gut.
Loosen your string tension to mid or high 40's.

Funny, I've been dealing with similar issues in my racquet search. See my thread here:
http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=510119

Still haven't found the right one. Even tried the low tension polys on the PSLTD, IGPMP, etc... I love the feel of the racquets but they play too dead. The Pure Control 95 seems like it won't be enough of a difference from the old PSLTD.

I was also slightly shocked to see my friend (a 3.0, I'm a 4.0) hitting consistently deeper and with more spin on his Pure Storm Lite than me on my IGPMP.

Im intrigued by the Pure Strike Tour, any of you try that one?

One more thing... I also think the characteristics that make the PSLTD and similar racquets great, cancel out the attributesthat we are are looking for in other demos. Such as having a solid, stable feel, control to swing out, but wanting more power and a bigger sweet spot. Its a tough balance but I am surprised there isn't something I've tried yet that has that bump in power but feels headlight and solid like the PSLTD. That being said, the RF97 seems to speak to some of those characteristics but also seems to be a racquet fit only for some of the higher rated players. (5.0 and above) I am still working on demoing the C10 pro and Technifibre 325 as they have been said to help. Anyone else have racquets they have found to answer this puzzle?
