Babolat "Boost" Drive

Hi T-dubbers:
I recently hit with a friends new Babolat Pure Drive. In general terms I liked it. As I was hitting with it and blocking volleys, I thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if they made this same racquet in a 104-105" spec that matches the head size I currently play with. (Dunlop 300G 105")

I looked at the Babolat home page on the TW site and didn't see anything. Then, quite by accident, I dropped down to a part of the page called "Babolat Lite and Drive Racquets" and there is a 105" Babolat 105" drive. Holy Cow!

For $99, I have to believe some of the magic sauce in a regular Pure Drive must be missing. Other than the apparent weight and RA difference, both are made out of graphite. Cross section/beam/string pattern....all the same.

So, what am I missing? If I can modify a 105" from a 10oz. to 11.2oz. racquet what would I be missing?

Hi Mark B,

We haven't hit with with the Boost line so I can't comment on playability. However, the Boost line would be considered the "value" line from Babolat. I think the biggest difference would be feel. It won't have any of the technologies including Cortex and GT. I'm also wondering if the graphite layout might be different between the two. I can't tell but the string spacing may be different as well. You possibly could customize but I'm not sure you will be able to replicate the Pure Drive feel with it. Although, if you do go through with the experiment I am definitely interested to see how it turns out.

Thanks,
Brittany, TW
