Babolat Custom Damp vs. Pete Sampras O-Ring

Which of these dampens the LEAST? I've tried the O-ring today and found it rather stiff. How does the Babolat Custom Damp compare?

The Babolat one is indeed softer. BUT, it flies out of the racquet a little easier..

I like the Sampras O-thingy, but I agree it's a little stiff. I just wish the Babolat one stayed in the strings better.

Can you please explain what the rubber thing is that you stick into the hole of the actual dampener? Is it some sort of string attachment? Or does it increase/decrease the stiffness?

It's very unique. It's a little plastic/rubber container, that contains a bunch of little (and I mean little..) beads. That's right, beads. Like tiny little ball bearings. I guess the idea is that they absorb some level of shock.

I don't know if it works. But that's the best description I can come up with. Little beads, that 'counter' the vibration that it encounters.

I personally don't use it. Not that I don't like it.. it's probably perfectly good. I just have an open string pattern stick (POG mid) so the issue of the dampener flying out of the strings is just a deal breaker for me.

the insert for the custom damp is supposed to cause the dampener to dampen more, but i personally could not really feel much of a difference between having it in and not having it.

I just got my Custom Damps and I absolutely love the black dampener (without the plastic middle). It gives the racquet a slightly dampened/stiff feeling, yet there's still plenty of feel.
