Babolat PD / Head Extreme

Hi

First of all, sorry for my poor English.

I‘m close to switch from the Head Extreme Pro (315g) to the new Babolat Pure Drive Tour. The only thing that i don‘t like on the Babolat is the grip. For my feel, the Babolat is bigger and also harder than the Head. Both grips, the Head and the Babolat have size 3 (4 3/8) with a Wilson overgrip. Should i take a smaller grip (2) on the Babolat or should i change the replacement grip.

I liked the Extreme pro very much, but unfortunately the new Extreme isn‘t available with 315g. Any other ideas what I should testing? Thanks for helping me

Hi there Tiger12. Tennis is a great game for all walks of life. You have some options:

1. If you like the extreme pro so much, why not just stick with it and find new or slightly used ones?
2. If you want to switch to the pure drive tour, get a grip smaller, pick up the head hydrasorb grip and use it on the PDT.
3. You can build up grip using 1/2 or full size shrink tube or gorilla tape to build up the pallet at various positions. Though, anything you add to handle will have some kind of effect on the overall balance of the frame.

My experience with the extreme pro, extreme mp, and pdt is that the extreme pro feels better than both frames. If you meant stiffer by "harder", yes the extreme pro feels more comfortable than both of your other options.

Definitely change the base grip on the Bab. I do that on all of mine - I put a Skin Feel on it and it is perfect. Won;t change the weight much at all..maybe you lose 2-3 grams.

Do not buy the smaller grip. That's just not the way to do it - I speak from experience. And I also own a Head Extreme Pro as well. All are 1/4grip size.

You can sand down the pdt grip. You can make it like the head grip, slightly more rectangular by sanding bevel 3 and 7.
