Babolat PDGT vs PD Roddick GT (standard size)

Besides the obvious differences in weight, are ther any comments on these two and how they compare to each other? strengths and weaknesses?

I have the PDGT now, and even though it has plenty of power, I sometimes wish it had even more power on serves (my strongest part of my game). I need another PD for a back-up and was thinking of adding a lilttle more weight for plow through and added stability. Should I get the heavier Roddick version and use my current pdgt (possibly weighted) as back-up. Or should I just get another PDGT and customize them to be exactly the same.

What do you think?

The PDGT is the most powerful ROCKET LAUNCHER I've ever owned......

If you feel you lack power with this, you need to get some bette technique.....seriously...

yes, the PDGT has plenty of power, but I have found it to be surprisingly controllable, and not as powerful as some make it out to be. My main goal for possibly adding weight would be to just bring it up about 30-40 grams. In its stock form it just seems to be a little light for me. I was also thinking the extra mass would add a little more stability, and plow through, as well as provide more "free" power on serves - I'm not looking for it in any other part of my game. Granted, better technigue would do this as well - and I'm working on that!

My question was mainly seeking advice about the PDGT Roddick - since I'm already considering adding a little weight, and want a 2nd racquet for a backup, maybe I should just spend my money on the heavier Roddick version. I haven't been able to demo the Roddick so I was just wanting some advice on how it performed. Thanks.

I have installed VS leather grip + overgrip on all my PD GT ANNIVERSARY racquets, which add 12-14 gram to make it more headlight.
I then added 3 gram lead at 9 and 3 and 2 gram at 12 just for fun.

Let me tell you that this racquet now is a power house for my game.
I'm sure the Roddick will be even more powerful, but it's also even stiffer than the original PD GT, so if you have no problems with that, get the Roddick version and compare them.........

But the standard PD GT with Leather grip and some lead is just full of power as it is....

Thanks clubho. This helps. I'm loving the PDGT as is, I was just wondering if I can improve it even more. Like you said, for the fun of it.

If my math is correct, you added 30+ grams, this would put it over the Roddick GT weight.

I definitely don't want any extra stiffness, so I will stick with the PDGT and experiment - I'm now thinking about adding 6 grams at 10 and 2, and 10 on the handle, for a total of 22 grams.

If I get another PDGT I think I will get the Anniversary racquet as well. Great PJ IMO. How was the quality of the PJ on your four?

Never thought I'd see the day ClubHoUno is diggin' the Terrorist Rocket Launchers! Wazzap Club! :) I'm past the honeymoon with the PSLGTs and love them more every day.

For the OP, after my experience with the PDGT I would say go for the Roddick just for that little extra stability it brings due to the extra mass. Yes, you can just lead up a PDGT, but it's better to have that 15g of extra weight distributed better and distributed with graphite, not lead.

No no, I added a total of 12-14 gram at the grip and 8 gram total of lead = 20-22 gram

But I only joke around right now, trying to find the way I prefer it setup.

I will most lively end dumping the lead and keeping the Vs Leather grip and the overgrip, and then fine tune some strings/hybrid and tension, that I will prefer for this racquet. Can easily take 1-2 months and 8-10 string jobs before I know which way to go.....and what I prefer.

The paintjob on my 4 ANNIVERSARY 135 Edt. Racquets were all very good looking and had only very small minoritet imperfect faults, far less compared to my new BLX 95, 18X20 from Wilson.

The color is a Unique color - in sunlight it looks like the light orange Roland Garross clay, indoor it looks like a Head Prestige Pro color and other times it looks dark straight red.

Hey :)

Got such a good offer on 4 of the ANNIVERSARY special Edt. PD GT and had thought about trying some powerful for the clay season. It rains a lots at the moment and the court is heavy and slow. Needed some to spice up my baseline game, hence I bought 4 of these BOMB BLASTERS :p
