Babolat Propulse 3

I almost never visit this forum but read some reviews regarding the Propulse 3 and some users switching from the trusty Nike Breathe Frees to the Propulse shoes. I have been a loyal fan of the Breathe Free series for years, but now that they dropped the warranty, I run through them too quickly to keep buying them. The Nike Courtballistec shoes just aren't comfortable for my foot type, and it's the only shoe with a warranty in the Nike line. The vapor is such a comfortable shoe, but it lasts 3-4 weeks at best. I'm hoping the Propulse are as good as many of you say because I just ordered the red ones. I've got the foot type many said it was good for...wide and flat. I want to thank everyone for the contributions about all the different shoes. It really helped me make a decision this time.

It's a nice shoe, although they may wear a bit quick IMO. I always found Babolat shoes to do this for me, but this is just me.

I'm the one who switched from Nike 2k10 to Babolat PP 3. I have a wide feet so it is hard to find right shoes for me. Compared to these two shoes, PP 3 is much better for comfortableness and outsole durability. You might consider Prince T22 as well if you prioritize ventilation.

I have both and use the Propulse 3 for hard courts and the 2k11 for clay. I prefer the Propulse in all aspects, just didn't care for the sole on clay. I'm hoping that the SFX will work for me, but it's not similar to the Propulse at all.

I've also switched from Nike 2K10's and 2K11's to the Propulse 3's. I've been very happy. My foot is medium width, and I reguarly wear 2 pairs of socks. Very comfortable, have that low to the ground feel. Plenty of support, but don't like the "looks" of the straps. Have been durable to date. I think you should give them a try.

That's because you've got the hard court version of the shoe. You need these....

I am actually planning on getting Propulse's myself because out of the Zoom Breathe, Propulse, and Barricade I felt the most comfort and arch support in the Propulses. 70 dollars with a 6 month warranty is just flat-out awesome.

$70?? Am I missing a sale?

I am also looking at these to upgrade from my Barricade 6's.

I've seen the propulse 2 for $69. I am waiting to see my size 14 go on sale in a shoe with a warranty other than the Courtballistecs. I should have my propulse shoes Wednesday. I'm not big on having the latest shoes, but I've got a pair of the newest Vapors that I wear exclusively on clay and they are incredibly comfortable. Wore out the vapor 8s on hardcourts in 3 weeks. My other pair of shoes right now is a pair of Wilsons. I'd never get another pair of Wilsons again...feel like I'm going down a ski slope with the heel to toe difference.

Propulse 3s are usually $109 but they have the 6 month warranty.
BTW, how do they compare against the SFX? Thinking of switching because the SFX is $10 cheaper and also has the 6 month warranty.

I looked at the SFX too. I couldn't try them obviously because I wear a 14 and no one stocks that size locally. TW review said they run half size large and they don't make half sizes above 13. I didn't want to deal with sending a shoe back. They also per customer reviews dont lace up as tightly to the ankle which some didn't appreciate. I decided to go with the flagship shoe for my first pair. They are only $5 more per pair when you factor in the warranty. I wouldn't switch to save $10. The SFX are lighter weight and may not last as long.

I just bought SFX last Friday and have been using it since Friday. It fits me for my wide feet, lots of room at the toe area. The fit is very comfortable, and I even use it for jogging. Lateral support not as good as Propulse 3. The tongue is also thick and feels really good. I will wear out the sole in 2 months or faster, but it has 6 month warranty.

Propulse 3 is nice before I had the FX. I wore out the P3 in 2 months, but it is understandable given their soft comfortable sole (MIchelin rubber, which I also wear out fast on the tire for my car). The Propulse 3 sole feels very thin in comparison to SFX, but I changed the insole to aftermarket insole and the comfort feel improved.

I hope the next Propulse 4 has same comfort and width like SFX

i agree the propulse is one of the better shoes on the market. but durability is a big issue. has anyone tried the new yonex sht308? or whatever its called

I have both the SFX and the Propulse 3s. The SFXs are very soft with outstanding cushioning. The Propulse 3s are lower to the ground with a firmer feel.

IMO, the SFX is great for light hitting and/or if you place priority on cushioning and comfort. The shoes are extremely flexible and give quite a bit when you cut aggressively. They're so soft, they remind me of my Brooks running shoes. However, I found that I could not cut confidently in these shoes.

The Propulse 3, on the other hand, is better suited for more aggressive play, IMO, as the foot belts do a great job of locking your feet in. The "suspension" is more sport-tuned, if that makes sense, whereas the SFX rides more like a floaty Buick or Lexus.

Both are great for wide feet, BTW. The SFXs seem to be a bit wider and their soft upper provides plenty of give. Interestingly, the SFXs also appear to run 1/4 to a 1/2 size bigger than the Propulses (at least for my feet).

I hope this helps!

I wouldn't say that the Propulse 3 are for wide feet. I wear K-Swiss Big Shots (with a thin sock) and I can't seem to squeeze my feet into them.

I tried on the Big Shots, but they were too narrow for me. I also wear 4E Asics and Brooks running shoes as even 2E shoes are a bit narrow for me. The Propulse 3 fit fine for what I consider my wide feet.

Different shoes for different foot types, I guess.

I have wide feet and have a hard time with narrower shoes like Adidas and Nikes, the Propulses are great for me! Plenty of room without feeling cramped!

Could be! I wear 2E-4E running and casual shoes.

The Propulse 3s is one of the better shoes out there. The soft rubber Michelin compound offered excellent traction and provide a safe and secure grip on the courts.

There is plenty of room for those with wide feet and the straps provide great lateral stability and support. The only complaint I have is the lack of forefoot cushioning for me. After a couple hours on the court, my balls of my feet feel really sore.

If they address that in the next version, this shoe would be the GSOAT.

I received mine Wednesday and played two sets indoors then drilled a few hours and played a match yesterday on clay. Other than a little discomfort around the ankle and Achilles from the stiff upper at those points which I assume will get better with time. The cushioning is good for me and the traction is great. These shoes are a steal with the 6 month warranty. My favorite shoes since the turquoise cage with the warranty.
