Babolat Propulse, knee pain

Hello guys,
i've never experienced knee pain in my life so far. In December of last year i switched to the Propulse, the first couples of times it was ok, after some days the last time i played (i overall have played 10 hours in my propulse) i experienced pain especially in my right knee, can this be caused by the shoes?
I've read the last feedback for the propulse and the guy explains his meniscus problem using this shoe so i'm a little bit worried. I used to wear Reebok Figjam and then Reebok Match day pump, that are both really cushioned shoes. I noticed immediately a little bit of lack of support in the forefoot but i can't imagine this may cause pain.
Do you think my problem is the shoe? And what shoe can give me a good support (please remain among nike, adidas, babolat and reebok)!

Thank you:)

I have not tried those shoes, but I deal with this type of thing all day. I can't say for sure if your knee pain is caused specifically by a shoe. What I can say is that your shoes/footwear are your "first line of defense". Improper footwear can easily affect just about anything (knees, ankles, hips, back, etc.). If you immediately noticed a lack of support, then perhaps the Propulse was not designed specifically for your foot type. In that case, you can try modifying the support in the shoe by trying insoles or some sort of orthotic support, or you can simply try to get shoes that do support your specific foot type and gait.

Yes, the reason why i chose that shoe is because Andy Roddick wears it, and as i've always found the shoes he wears very comfortable and with great support, i thought this shoe was about the same, but i was wrong because it offer less support and cushioning than my old reebok used to do.

I bought these shoes and they hurt my feet for almost a week everytime i played, still do a bit and it has been 2 weeks. I have not noticed any pain in my knees...yet but what i can say is the support is lacking. Best advice for you is to ditch the shoes and get a pair of barricades. I am going back to get a pair today and wear my propulse as a casual shoe. I can't play another match and have my feet aching. Did anyone have a terrible time breaking these shoes in?

^^Any help please?^^

Yes it is definitely possible. Use the search function and look for "knee pain". Several threads about this and tons of posters (including me) conclude that knee pain can in fact be caused by shoes.

Also there is a lot of really good info about which shoes are easiest on the knees. Many posts recommend Asics Gel Resolution and Yonex shoes, my personal preference is the Barricade B3 (but the B4 caused knee pains for me and I assume the B5 would because it is very similar to the B4).

Finally, you should definitely be using gel insoles to add cushioning, again use search function and read up on the feedback about insoles.

Hope this helps.

Thanks tnt!

Now i'll do this, i'll switch back to my Reebok Match day pump, see if my knee pain went away, then i'll wear the propulse again, possibly with an insole, and see if my pain will come back again.

What about the barricade 2 in terms of comfort for your joint?
The B3 are sold out!

B2 is OK - just too narrow for me - a lot of people like it though.

If you can't get the B3 (I got a few pairs to last me a while) the B1 and B2 work fine - I just concluded that I need to stay away from the B4 and B5 for the sake of my knees.

Going back to your old shoes makes sense. That is exactly how I figured out that the B4 was causing the problem (by using my old worn out B3's again).

Ok, i'll try!.

My foot is quite narrow and my arch is low: does the Barricade II fit my foot? I can't find any reference in the TW description, and what about the size?, do they fit true to size? i wear a 11.5 in the Propulse and a 11 in the Figjam.

Thank You

The should fit; usually pretty true to size.

I don't know enough about the other shoes to give you comparison or be able to recommend 11 or 11.5. If another shoe fits at 11 chances are the B2 would fit at 11.

Today i've played one hour and a half with my old Reebok, and fortunately i did not experienced knee pain, now i'm almost sure the cause is the Propulse!

Great news. To really confirm the result wait for a day or two to make sure there is no pain and then play with your old shoes one more time. If it is the same as today you know the (new) shoes were causing the pain!

I play in the propulses and love them. It was terrible breaking them in though. Pain in the forefoot. I bent them over eachother and put weights on them to keep them like that for 6 hours and the change was incredible. After the breaking in was done, they played great. Refering to the knee pain, you could have knee tendonitis from switching to something you weren't used to.
