Babolat Pure Aero 2019

I have had TE with Pure Drives back in 2010 and with a Prince Graphite II back in 1992.

No issues with wrist or elbow pain for me with my three Pure Aeros.

Interesting. I would agree on the control aspect, the more open string pattern definitely offers a higher launch angle and less directional control but more spin for me. However in terms of the pain, I use soft polys (Pro Line II, Black Widow, Alu Power Soft to name a few) at lowish tenisons (around 44 lbs) and have experienced no pain from my Pure Aero (although a little pingy) or my Pure Aero Tour. I can't say the same for my APD 2013, as even hybriding those soft polys with a Forten Sweet, still caused me elbow and wrist pain.

I could not imagine a pure Aero at 44. I could probably hit a ball to the moon at that tension.

Maybe after the first couple of hours. But you would get amazed what a freshly strung low tension poly can do or feel at the first set using it. Expensive pleasure, btw.

You do get use to it. The feel is much better, as is the spin and sweetspot.

The launch angle is higher, so you need either to brush up more and hit less through the ball or bump up the swingweight a little, to naturally flatten out your stroke enough to compensate.

I pulled my PA out for fun today. it's a 4/38 and I like a built up 4-1/4 better. This is one mean racquet. I am just flat-out scary with this stick, however, I get these occasional errant forehands where I just look at the racquet and go...huh? That was why I hing it up initially, there is just no subtlety or nuance to this guy at all. It's like a hot rod with no brakes.

Yeah but whilst that’s true, it’s an actual weapon. As long as you win more points than you lose and you accept the odd curious rocket, it’s lethal. Frames with more control just don’t offer the same extra bonus threat.

I demo'ed the PA a couple months ago but decided to go with the EZONE 98 as my racket of choice but went ahead and pulled the trigger on the PA. I definitely remember the easy power on the PA was so addicting

It reminds me of the match Sam Querrey won against Djokovic in 2016 at Wimbledon. Sam just literally hit Novak off the court. There was no subtlety or nuance just bludgeoning the ball. In a very good way.

I ordered two of the Lite version Decima. Excellent platform for weighting up. Even in stock form it performs so well.

Pure Aero is one of the best Babolats I have ever used. Regretted letting it go because I thought I couldn't tame it. Almost bought a plus version this time around but took a gamble & picked up a 2018 Pure Drive Plus.
I gotta say it feels like a less beefy version of the PA but with a better ability to hit flat balls. They both feel so solid & have better feel compared to the harsh, disconnected previous versions.
My Aeropro original is collecting dust because of these new versions.

Couldn't have said it better. That's exactly how the PD plus 2018 feels and plays and the reason it's my go to racquet now replacing my PA plus. It' easier to swing and maneuver. Babolat hit the nail on the head with this new model.

I like the 2018 Pure Drive + much better than the 2015 version I let go late last year.
It's an improvement in every aspect for my game so far but need to log in a little more sessions to be certain.

Nost..yes 2018 PD+.
I had every single PD + since its inception...Swirly..
as well as the the Aero Pro + and Pure Aero Plus..
and pretty much every 300g + racket that came out..
2018 Pure Drive + is z best..of them all..
2nd was Kneissil Red Star

I’ve noticed that Pure Aeros are being discounted at a few different retailers around my area. Does that suggest that the 2019 model accouncement is imminent? I can’t recall when the 2016 model was announced (end of June?).

I found 2018 PD and PD plus to be very volley friendly, very very easy to maneuver. but has slightly less power than previous versions, largely due to thinner beam. It is also less Spin friendly than pure Aero. it is definitely tradeoff. I like the 2018 PD plus better than previous versions but it isn't perfect. I wish it has More Spin potential and slightly More power.

Does anyone have know (based on past releases or whatever) if they will release the plus (extended length version) of the pure aero at the same time as the standard length? Sounds like they'll release the line around the time of the US open ^, but do they usually release the extended at the same time or is there a delay? Thanks to anyone who knows! :)

TW did the Pure Aero racquet review in late August 2015. It then did the Pure Aero Plus racquet review in early November 2015.

This might give you an indication. I would imagine anywhere from 8 to 16 weeks.
Great! Thanks so much for the info! For some reason I had trouble finding it online. I just got a couple of the current PA+ after having played with the pure storm tour plus for many years until they were all cracked. After having domoed the PA+ I love it! Haven’t got to test it against any significant pace yet though. I’m hoping it’s stable enough being as light as it is. Maybe I’ll consider adding some tape :)

I went to Mason’s Tennis in NYC and they told me the new Pure Aero will be released in October and Rafa will use the new colors for the US Open.

No shot of it by any chance? Release date confirmation?

He's not the best with English, but he essentially said it MAY be used by pros by the US Open. He said "rafa might already be using it already" (though im sure he meant the PJ). The design is very similar to the current one. A bit more bold looking and the Navy Blue looks pretty cool actually. I don't think I can get a shot but we should see it on tour by the end of this year. Hopefully that is...

Is the green part still the same color or brighter? I’m assuming the black part would be navy blue

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should try? I use the original aero pro drive plus. I wish it was a little more stable but I seem to have the most control with it and can hit pretty good angles. I’m demoing the ezone 98 and the DR98 and also the pure strikes in both string patterns. They all feel so head heavy but much more stable especially at volleys and heavy pace. I’ve hit a little with pure aero and tour and they were okay. Same with the demos now. Nothing seems to stand out. Maybe I should try to customize the apdo? And I’m not sure how much difference the plus makes for sweet spots and such. I tend to brush the ball much more and swing pretty fast. Any others in the line that I should try out?

I think the green part will be a brighter yellow like the APD (not counting original) and the black parts will be navy. It kinda took me back for a second but it looks pretty good.

Same here. I like the Pure Aero Tour because it's just a tiny bit heavier, and I put a couple inches of lead tape at 12 o'clock on each side. Works great, and I've never had any pain issues. It's MUCH more controllable than the standard PA, which seems so light it just flies all over the place.

I think the PAT is often misrepresented in reviews as "the heaviest in the Pure Aero line." People read that "heaviest" and think it's an anvil or something. It isn't. It would be more accurate to say it's "less light" than the standard PA, but in NO sense of the word is it "heavy"!!!

I wouldn't trade my PAT for any racket on the planet.

I'm currently using an extremely leaded up Aeropro drive team (funds issues) at about 12.3oz strung but I totally agree. The Pure Aero Tour is not that heavy compared to other "tour" rackets. It's only heavy compared to the regular PA (which is too light).

What strings and gauge do you use?

My favorite string is ALU power fluoro (pretty thin) at 50/52 lbs.

Right now I'm broke (teenager ya feel) so I'm using a reel of Gosen Polylon 17 at 45/48lbs and I really like it. Lasts surprisingly long too. The ALU lasts forever though if it doesn't break.

Uh. So you enjoy strings that are crazy expensive and don’t hold tension for ****?

ALU regular loses tension fast, but the fluoro model is hella soft and holds tension a LOT better. My APD+ has had ALU fluoro in it at 56lbs for almost 6 months and while its super springy now its still playable and I can still hit good serves. A LOT better tension maintenance than ALU rough or even big banger.
