Babolat Pure Strike VS

Except there is no Flex Carbon, as Babolat Official has said. So I wonder how could they possibly play the same...

So, it turns out that flex carbon is actually stiff carbon if the numbers are higher with it.

I don't think so, TW specs (strung) are RA 62 with Flex Carbon, RA 65 without (new version)
That's a first. ;)

According to maxpotapov the numbers are the other way around - the racquet with Flex Carbon being softer.
Though the definition of "Flex Carbon" wasn't appealing from my engineering perspective:
New material featuring a lower density of carbon fibers for a more flexible feel.

As a client/buyer you'd want as much high quality graphite you can get.
Compare the cross section of an APD and an Angell - you will see how big the differences in the thickness of the graphite are.

Unstrung stiffness is as quoted above from TWE.

A lower density of carbon fibers means cheaper. 1K is cheaper than 5K for sure. :)

The Pure Strike VS is the same racket as the Pure Control. Only update is cosmetic. The Pure Strike VS Tour is the same as the Pure Control Tour, though with a new cosmetic.

Which is a great news for me!
But what about your comment about missing Flex Carbon in the new version (in the other thread)?
Besides, the old non-Tour version was 290 grams unstrung, while the new is 300 grams

This has been really puzzling... It was only supposed to have the cosmetic update of the Pure Control line, but the reviews made them seem like completely different lines of rackets. Could the paint effect the play that much? It really doesn't make sense because the previous Tour and non-Tour versions received so much love, but the newly paintd ones have gotten bad reviews. Are they that different in feel?

How come the Pure Controls got absolutely rave reviews from TW a few years back while the new Pure Strike VS's are way less raved about by the playtesters if they are merely a cosmetic update? Do they just hate the new paintjob or what?

I was at the TW demo center at the BNP Paribas in Indian Wells and took all the new Pure Strikes out for a spin. Honestly the best of the bunch IMO was the VS Tour. So I'm not sure why the TW folks were giving it mediocre reviews. Most arm friendly Babolat with good mix of spin production, power and control.

I'd definitely demo it if you are thinking about it. I'd say my favorites of all the rackets I demo'd were the Pro Kennex Q+ Tour and the Bab VS Tour.
