If I could add my two cents, I would have you also consider the Aerostorm. IMHO it does have the "hybrid" effect of the Purestorm and APD. There is a good combination of power and control with it.

I demoed the Limited GT version and just felt that the Tour had a slight edge in power and comfort. If the Tour wasn't available, the Limited GT would have been the racquet I use.

Has anyone tried both the Limited and Limited GT and what would you say change by adding the GT technology to it?

I have both the Tour and Ltd. Don't agree that the Tour is more comfortable than the Ltd. I find the Ltd. quite a bit more flexible and soft. I absolutely love the feel of it. That said, the Tour isn't uncomfortable by any means, and it also has a pretty nice plush feel. Just not as nice as the Ltd. I do agree though that the Tour has quite a bit more pop to it, and it is more forgiving than the Ltd. as the sweetspot on the Ltd. isn't as big. Both are great sticks.

Aero Storm GT anybody?

It's a rock solid frame-IMHO, near KPS88 solidity-with all the benefits of both Pure Storms and Pure Drives. It's like the perfect intermediate step between the PDGT and the PSGT. Not too stiff, not too noodly. I'd be happy to elaborate if you haven't settled on the PSGT yet.

Hm. Perhaps I'll just buy both the Ltd and the Tour.. Unfortunately the Ltd that was on discount got raised back to 179.. Dang :/

And now someone brings up the Aero storm as well? You just have to make the decision harder, eh? If only demoing wasn't such a drag..

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get a Pure Storm Tour and Ltd atm, and if it doesn't work out, I'll just resell it. Then I may try out the AeroStorm if it doesn't work out.. Would you be able to elaborate a bit more?

Any suggestions on what strings to try them out with? Mains/Crosses/Tension?

Thanks

If there were shops near where I live, I would have demoed a long time ago :p

I live in the country where there's no shops anywhere around. Closest city is about 15 minutes away, and there aren't any tennis shops around there..

Price did not go back up. The Ltd that was on sale for $109 was two generations old-- it was the Pure Storm Ltd (non-GT) and was on sale for $109. The 2009 version, the Pure Storm Ltd GT (2009 paintjob) was, and still is, on sale for $179 plus a $20 discount. The 2011 version, the Pure Storm Ltd. GT 2011 is $179 but comes with free RPM Blast (it's a Babolat promotion).

It looks like the old non-GT version is now sold out.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. So I think I'm probably going to be buying a AeroPro, Pure Storm Ltd and a Pure Storm Tour... Might be reselling some though. I'll probably end up with two main rackets..

The racket I've been using as of late is the Pure Drive GT standard length, but this season I've been experiencing wrist pain after consecutive days of 5+ hour play, so I may be getting that for whatever racket I use, but I've also been experiencing a strange sort of shoulder pain that is evidently from serving. For example, even now, when I'm just sitting here and bend my arm and lift up the elbow (like i'm holding my racket ready to serve), I can feel the pain. This could be a technical problem, but if I fix my technique and still get this pain, could it be the racket?

Could anyone describe what are the possible causes of those two forms of pain besides bad technique?

Thanks!

Playing for five plus hours a day, multiple days in a row?

Could anyone answer this for me? :O

If it's really the racquet, going to a Pure Storm Tour wouldn't help.
When one experiences shoulder pain because of the frame, it's usually because the racquet itself is too heavy. For instance, lots of people would love to use the KPS88, but its high weight on serves causes them shoulder issues.

Try talking to a pro about technical issues to see what may cause shoulder problems there. The Tips/Instruction subforum also has lots of useful serving information.

Interesting-- I thought that the general consensus was that using too light a racket caused shoulder pain and that one of the recommended "fixes" was to move to a heavier racket.

Too heavy or too light? Two contrasting opinions? Could anyone back up any of the theories with evidence? For me I would imagine it's the too light.. For me the shoulder pain comes from excessive serving. When I serve, I really throw my entire arm into it, and I don't really do the whole stretch and shoulder rotations before I play..

I've played with the Pure Drive GT, the Pure Storm Tour (Carbon Xtrem) and the Pure Storm Limited (1st and 2nd gen.). I never had any arm issues with the PST and PSL, while the PDGT did hurt my shoulder.

Technical issues aside, I do not think you can go wrong with either the PST or the PSL. My personal favorite is the latter.

To be honest Babolat sticks served me well until i reached varsity. Unless its a PST or PSL i wont go near one for match play. I do like messing around with my PDRGT+ bought it off a friend for 60$

I stick to HEAD Prestige pro, Wilson 6.1's and Yonex Mids(its all about the feel)

I like the PST and PSL. I also like the AST.

EDIT: for the record, that was a backhanded compliment. Sorry mate. Had to do it.
