Babolat String Playtest-March 2010

I take a set and post a review! ASAP! .. oh wait do i have to string them myself LOL I can do it! Let me help plus I will feel special and sponsored LOL TW Sponcer me! LOL

do you think flat balls are better ? i know this is contrary to popular beliefs. but heavy topspin balls tend to sit up but flat hard balls really skid thru and rob you of time. if you ever played a flat hard hitter, you would know what i mean..:)

It all depends on the game style. As I said, RPM had a better blend of power and spin from my experience, I could hit both when needed.

Has anyone hybrided this string with any multi or natural gut?

Do you guys think this string will play better as a full bed or a hybrid?

I am trying to transition from PHT/VS to whatever suits me better... a full bed or a hybrid..

I am starting out my test with a hybrid

I will hybrid it with X-1 and will report to you.
Anyway,,,,,,,,,,,Are we all playing like Nadal yet ?????

^ Thanks Fedace.

I don't know if I should try a full bed of RPM because supposedly its softer than PHT. I didn't like the stiffness of full PHT, thats why I opted to hybrid with VS .

i didn't like the full bed of PHT either. feel was not good to say the least.

^ I tried it out today with VS in the cross.

Much softer than PHT, which is the most notable difference.. Similar qualities with PHT..

I might be getting a bit more pop/power on these strings but I'm not sure yet.

Definitely can feel the co-poly "feel" on this string job compared to my regular PHT/VS

OK tested it. I Dont' like it. Power level is medium at best. Nowhere near strings like Alu power or Pro hurr tour.

1. Power -- 3 out of 5
2. control --- 4 out of 5
3. spin potential -- 4 out of 5 --- being generous here.
4. durability -- at 3 hour mark, still going strong.
5. Really shines on the serve -- Can't explain it but for some reason i was able to generate good power on the serves that i couldn't do on the groundies.
5. Feel -- Feels Soft but don't let that Fool you. For some reason, my Wrist and shoulder hurt after hitting with the string for 1 hour and 1/2. Did Not have this problem with pro hurr tour.

Fedace you would be a great tester for strings, like the review. Short and to the point.
Hope you get selected next round

Worst thing about this string is that my Wrist hurt with sharp jabbing type of pain after 2 hours of play. Now this is something new to me. I have been using Pro hurr tour for last 4 years and never had this problem. This is contrary to most reviews that say this String is Easy on the arm. It Isn't as nice on the arm and wrist as we thought ,,,,perhaps............

also this string may perform differently at lower tensions. I strung mine Yonex tour-2 at 63 lbs. fairly high tension for a poly.

Volley really sucked-- Very unpredictable. sometimes i get a nice punch volley deep but sometimes it falls short with no stick. I hate that kind of inconsistancy from my strings....

OMG Fedace, I can't agree with you more..

I thought I would love it, was being really generous with the string to start out with.. Played alright not significantly better.

Played a match today in a tournament, gambled on using the RPM this tournament, and got my ass handed to me by a kid I've never lost to

Planning on cutting these out and going back to PHT... Much better... And going back to the VS on the crosses.

Fedace, do you string your PHT full?

I hybrid with X-1 biphase. In fairness to RPM, i do use 18 g version of Pro hurr tour not 17 gauge. that may give more pop than RPM would at 17 g. but i thought i got better control with Pro hurr tour.

Wow you had strung at 63?? Wow
I had mine at 59 and it felt very comfortable on arm all around
I guess that some people like this string, for what ever reasons, I can't see any.

^ Seems like I've gone from one boat to the other.

I am not a supporter of RPM anymore because I just don't see it doing anything that really outperforms PHT... On the other hand, I feel like I get more out of PHT than RPM in areas such as the ability to pick out spots where I want to hit on the court.

Fedace, how would the X1 Biphase cross compare to my Gut cross?

I'm assuming stay with my Gut cross as long as I can pay for it?

And also... how long does PHT last you?

I can't use gut because i cut out the string or break it after 6-8 hour. PHT lasts about that long anyway. X-1 is little less powerful and little less control than the natural guts.

^ So PHT lasts you about 6-8 hours? I'm assuming thats what dies out first..

Is that the usual time frame for PHT to last? 6-8 hours?

^ I might try X-1 in the crosses then.. just because PHT only lasts me a bit longer ... 10-12 hours probably.

Have you ever tried Solinco Tour Bite by any chance?

pht seems stiffer to me. I really like this stuff so far. To me power, control, feel , spin combined to make a great string. Ive played w lux and many other polys and so far it feels really good to me and no arm pain. I havent played w it for a long period so this isnt a final review but if it changes I will say so. Want to play a match or 2 with it before I say anything final about it. a couple of hours hitting though I was very impressed. Maybe string is more personal preference than we think as far as these attributes.

Late, I know...
B-432C
Black
16 gauge
60 lbs. in a Fischer Pro No1

Pre-stringing:
Feels nice in hand. Anticipating stiff poly-like play.

Felt nice the first time out, quickly lost playability (~ 6 hours (not consecutive, over a weeks time)).

Before it faded away there were high points.

Spin: Wonderful spin. Nothing spectacular relative to most other polys, but certainly delivers.

At the net: unlike some other polys I've hit with, the net play was tolerable. I have issues with getting depth on my shots at the net with other polys. It didn't seem to be an issue here.

Not a lot of velocity on serves, but placement was decent.

Ground strokes dropped right where I wanted them until the strings gave, then they sailed on me.

Overall, I don't think it positively affected my game, but I'm not a poly player, so I didn't expect it to. I had the same joy of being able to hit tremendous spin and the same let down when it died out. :/ I'm concerned that my predisposition has affected my objectivity.
Is this B-432 = RPM Blast?

Does anyone KNow if they are going to make this NADAL string into 18 Gauge ??? if they do, i am going to give this one more try. There is so much Hype from ESPN from french open, this is ridiculous..................

yes there is hype but there are only certain players who can swing the racket that fast to get the full effect of the string and maximize it's properties...
Nadal is one!
It is NOT the string, it is still the player!
You have to find the right racket, string set-up for you!
Nadal has found it in the Aeropro Drive standard boomerang with his string (at his tension) and then away he goes!
It is UNLIKELY they will go 18 ga as it will break too easy on the dirt...

Fedace, why would you string a poly so tight?

I never string any poly at more than 55.
And trust me, I used to be a tight string fan....back in the day.

Any more folks trying this in a hybrid yet?
I am curious to see how it does with a nylon cross string.

EN11A5 Review

Sorry My review is so late, I haven't had time to string a racquet that's not going to be playing in an important match.

The String is labeled as "EN11A5", its a light beige color.

I went out and hit in perfect conditions, a little humidity, hardcourt, no wind. It hurt my arm which is no surprise becuase most polys do if they arent' soft.
Power 3/5
control 4/5
spin 3/5 (surprised about this it being a Luxilon poly string)
durability 4/5 Played with it nonstop for like 2 days 6hrs a day so pretty good for a full bed.
Serve 4.5/5 Only good part about this string. I could generate a ton of topspin and really put a lot of kick and power into my first and second serves.

Overall I didn't love this string and the cons outweigh the pros by far.

I think this is Lux Adrenaline. I may be wrong but it has all of the same characteristics of Adrenaline and I don't like adrenaline.

can you still hit that short Wide angle with the strung so loose ?? trampoline effect of the string makes it tough to hit short angle shots.. don't you agree ??
