Babolat's GT line vs. old line

Recently, i got the chance to hit with the new Pure Drive Roddick GT, and to me, it wasn't really anything special. However, I am a user of the original Pure Drive Roddick Plus racquet and i absolutely love that racquet. Maybe its just preference? Anybody else have the same experience???

I love the old Babolat PSL much better than the new GT.

all the GT versions i've hit with (Pure Storm, Pure Drive, AeroPro Drive) have been an upgrade from the previous version...that's just my opinion :)

C_Hari and Pyrokoid, can you guys elaborate a bit on what you like about the old Ltd. vs. the new one? Currently demoing the new version and like it very much, so interested to get more details.

After hitting with both versions recently, I'll agree that the newer AeroPro Drive feels much, much better than last year's, in my opinion.

The new GT was way too flexible. Against heavy hitters, I am almost at a disadvantage. I had to swing really hard to generate decent power which is usually not the case with me because I have solid strokes and play at 4.5 level.
The original PSL was little stiffer but was flexible enough(62 stiffness rating) to put good amount of power behind my shots and felt very stable in my hand. My ground strokes landed deep and volleys were much sharper and crispier than the GT.

The old PSL simply felt better in my hand compared to the GT. Hope that helps.

It does indeed. Seems like there's a lot of people who like the old version, and a good amount who prefer the new. Just wish I could find a demo of the old version, rather than buying it just based off of other people's comments (should I ultimately decide on the Ltd.)... Saw some comments in another thread about how lower tension and certain strings really makes a huge difference in terms of pop in the new version.

Btw Pyrokid,

I just saw in another thread that you recently switched to the Ltd. from the APDC. Would love to know more about why, as the APD GT is one of my other finalists (along with the BLX 6.1 18/20)... Never before a huge Babolat fan, I'm just so (surprisingly) impressed by both of these racquets, obviously for very different reasons since they play so differently... So I'm curious as to your switch and reasons why. I'm a 29-year old 4.0 guy trying to get to 4.5. Big server, baseliner, trying to incorporate a little more net play into my game.

If they no longer have kevlar in them I think they are worse. The kevlar/graphite mix is great for tennis racquets IMO.

I prefer the GT version and I have had 4 Pure Storm Tour and now have 4 Pure Storm Tour GT.

I also had 3 Pure Strom LImited GT.

The GT is a bit stiffer and less mushy in feel. I feel like I get better power from the GT model compared to the older NON GT.

It's still pretty control orientated, but I get a little bit more power from the GT model.
