Back again & need your help !!

Hi Everyone,

I need your help again in selecting a racquet. I am considering the Dunlop M-Fil 200 2006 and the M-Fil 300. Although the specs of M-Fil 200 2006 are more to my liking (lower swingweight & more headlight), I am also considering the M-Fil 300. I am currently playing with a 300G but want a change for a more stable stick with light weight & low swingweight.

I have gone through some of the old threads on M-Fil 200 2006, but could not find much information. We don't have a demo system out here so I rely mainly on the reviews & feedback of players who have tried out the racquets.

I will be graeful if someone could compare the M-Fil 200 2006 (27 inches length) & the M-Fil 300 to the older 300G in terms of overall playability, serves, volleys, maneuverability, comfort, control, groudstrokes, spin, etc..

Thanks.

Check out the Dunlop M-Fil 300 thread in the racquets section... over 100 pages of good, useful info and good comparisons.

What type of style do you play? What's your set-up...strings, grip, lead?

R U interested in buying the 300? Have you demoed it?

M-Fil 300 is great choice, just ask Maresmo what it has done for her.. But you could also wait til New line of dunlop comes out which is supposed to be best line of rackets Dunlop has ever made................

Thanks. There is quite some information available about the M-Fil 300 but hardly any for the M-Fil 200 2006. I will be grateful if someone could share his experience about this racquet.

I currently play with a little lead tape added to the 300G but am looking for a more stable & forgiving stick which is light weight, head-light & has lower swingweiight.

the MF3 may be the way to go... good luck with your search. Fortunately you are exploring two very good racquets. I find these explorations to be very fun. ;)

Yep yep, M-Fil 300 maybe the way to go like jc said. I have been using the M-Fil 300 since July and bought a second one in September. I really like this racquet, if you don't think it's not stable enough or too light you can always customize which is always fun. In my part it was too light so I added some Lead Tape and voila!! The racquet was great. I have had no experience with the M-Fil 200, I was thinking of getting it but, once I started playing with my M-Fil 300 I was amazed and really never thought of looking back.

Also, there are some great stuff about the racquet in the M-Fil 300 thread. There are some crazy stuff in there too not related to the racquet, lol. If you are interested in knowing more about the racquet just drop me off an email.

I still have the old 300g too. Crikey you had to add a lot of lead to it. But it sounds like you didn't. You subsconsciously will want to stay with a lighter weight therefore.

I think the M-Fil 300 would be good to you as it's a nice continuation (and a better racquet). If you want to experiment then go the 200 but be prepared to be disappointed if it's not what you want.

Why not wait for the new Dunlop line?

Thanks for all the inputs. I am also inclined towards the M-Fil 300 but some how the specs of M-Fil 200 2006 are very appealing. It seems to be perfect bet for me but unfortunately not much is being written about the 200 2006. Some reviews say that it does not play as per the mentioned specs.

Will be grateful if any one could share his experience about the M-Fil 200 2006.

Thanks once again.

I have an M-fil 200 (but it's the 2005) version. Not my main workhorse (which is the 6.0 85), but I am very satisfied with it from all over the court.

I think it's much safer for your arm than the 300. I have two friends which have elbow troubles with the 300, but neither of them has very good technique, which may be a factor. 300 is much more "jangly" outside de sweetspot.

But 200 is heavier and generates less topspin for the same motion.

200 (I strung it with NXT Tour 17, at 58lbs) is more powerful than the 6.0 85. But I prefer the 85 at the net and in terms of general accuracy.

Both 200 and 300 are good versatile racquets. They have both a natural swing for all shots.

Thanks Marius. I am more keen on the M-fil 200 2006 model as the specs are really to my liking but am not sure how it plays.

I had a short demo w/the M-Fil 200 2006 before purchasing the M-Fil 300...it's been a while and I didn't like the 200 2006 enough to hit with it extensively, so take my comments in that context. :)

The racquet felt (to me and to a friend) more sluggish than we expected from its specs...the demo could have been off-spec, but neither of us felt like it swung as easily as we would have liked. The sweet spot on the 2006 was a bit harder to find than the M-Fil 300, but the 2006 200 does have the same solid feel that I like so much w/the M-Fil 300. The 300 is more spin-friendly as Marius notes.

I think you'd be happier w/the 300 than the 200 overall, and you can always add a bit of lead to the 300 if you want a bit more weight...the M-Fil 300 is very easy to mod and takes lead well from my experience with it. (Although, the more I use it, the more lead I'm removing...I was up to about 11.5 oz from 10.9 stock on both of my M-Fils. Now on one of my M-Fils I'm experimenting w/just a few grams under the butt cap. Still as solid as ever and I'm getting better racquet head speed on my shots, and no loss of stability or ability to punish the ball when I want to.)

I haven't found any arm issues w/the M-Fil 300, and I have a very sensitive elbow/shoulder combination due to some old injuries. My previous racquet was the very comfy RDX Mid, and I haven't noticed any comfort issues in my transition to the M-Fil 300. The main difference for me is that the 300 feels harsher on framed or very near frame shots than the RDX did. However, I try not to hit shots there generally, so it hasn't been an issue. :) Overall I've found the M-Fil 300 to be more comfy than I remember the 300g being when I demo'd it two years ago....

As noted above, unless you are price-sensitive, you might want to wait for the Aerogels that are supposed to be coming out in January...however, if you want to keep your racquet costs down the M-Fil 200 and 300 are $79 right now....pretty hard to resist! :)

Why not do what I'm doing - go secondhand and get one of each - best of both worlds! I have the 2006 and like it a lot for my old-school flat hitting/all-court needs, and I expect the 300 will at least be fun once in awhile when I'm in a "spinnier" mode.

Redflea had alot of great points in his little post. I agree 100% with it though, at first I didn't like it much because it was too light. Than I added lead tape to it and now I love the racquet, it feels so much better. I also think you would be much happier with the M-Fil 300. If you do get one, we'll be happy to invite you to the M-Fil 300 club!

Redflea - Great review. Very helpful... this is the reason I love these message boards. I am now getting more inclined to the M-fil 300 as maneuverability is my main worry. I like light weight, head-light & maneuverable racquets. My main worry is that M-fil 300 is not very head-light and adding lead tape might make it sluggish. Otherwise the reviews of this racquet are pretty positive.

SUV Steve - I live in India where the 300G is still not available leave aside the M-fils. People are not very racquet aware out here except few pros. So second hand M-fils are out of question.

PNoyr3D - I am currently using the 300G & would LOVE to join the M-fil 300 club !

Any other M-fil 200 2006 user: Please write.

Thank you all once again.
