It appears that the rivalry now has a mainly psychological component to it, where either player can win on any surface, and the match can come down to a few points or a single momentary lapse in judgment. That doesn't mean the rivalry is destined to go the way Federer and Nadal did back in the day. Maybe Nadal will still be stronger on clay than Djokovic next year. Or maybe he will decline more. Too early to tell. But in slams, they play each other very tight now.
