A very intersting first round match at the Rogers Cup has Marcos Baghdatis facing off vs Carlos Moya. Baghdatis has been playing well of late, performing very well at both the French Open and Wimbledon. So has Moya though, he recently won his 5th Umag title in stellar fashion, beating up on Canas and Pavel in the semis and final. Baghdatis tends to get up the Grand Slams, while Moya tends to play well throughout a calender.

I like Moya in 3 sets.

Moya in 3 sets.

I like Moya in 3 sets, he has had a really good year and I think he will ride that wave maybe into the top 15 by the end of the year.

Baghdatis hasn't had the greatest year. But he likes the hardcourts. Moya on the otehr hand is a tough player get's to alot of balls, and if he was smart maybe employ some of the game that he did agaisnt Henman at Wimbledon coming to the net putting pressure on his oppoent. Even though he lost that match in that epic 5 setter. Still played very well.

Had a serious chat with Carlos about his tendency to take siestas during matches (hahahaha)...and I believe that I have straighened him out...picking Carlos in 2....would usually not root against Baggy, but come on...it's Carlos....I predicted at the first of the year that Carlos would be back in top 15 by the end of the year!!!!! Vamos Carlos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

Ive been in montreal the last 3 days and have seen carlos beat up on paul henri mathieu, andy murray and safin over a few a practice sessions, he is playing really, really well. Forehand and serve are big and consistent, and the backhand is looking better as well. If he can take recent form over to this match i like his chances. Baghdatis has been practicing nice as well. Saw him hitting with Gasquet yesterday and was over hitting alot, but that is usual as he is a shot maker. In any event, Moya is the man and should win!!

Great news and great report Kid!!!! That makes my day...he plays this evening so hopefully he'll be plenty rested and it will be cooler then.....Vamos Carlos...you can do it...straight sets;)

Baghdatis won 7-6 (6), 6-1.

Moya had 4 set points in the first set tiebreak. Then Moya only won 4 points in the first 5 games of the 2nd set.

Plus Baggy served at 39% 1st serve, tennis is a crazy game.

Good win for the Cypriot

Weird match. Moya just lost it in the second set :/

Also, he was STILL practicing on a small court at 7:15pm, 15 mins before he was due on center court, some officials had to get there and tell him to leave already :o

Typical Moya meltdown. Up 4 set points in the tiebreak and then goes walkabout from there onwards. He probably went to the school of Safin.

Sniff sniff sniff....Carlos...how could you do this to me??? I thought we had an understanding that you were going to focus......
