I played against a guy one time who wore shorts without pockets .....

Best way to handle it is to buy the guy one of those girl's skirt clip ball holders and then publicly present it to him as a gift from the team/club......

I GUARANTEE he'll show up with shorts with pockets the very next time!

heh heh heh......

What about taking a second ball (that you had in your hand) and deliberately bouncing it
while the first ball was in play?

What is the ruling for that?

When you’re the golden boy of tennis you get away with stuff like that.

i thought loss of point, shouldn't be a let...

yet, a search revealed otherwise?

c'mon.

saw it happen in a close match (my team) and we called a let (they dropped the ball),
i thought we shoulda just won the point. bzzzzzt, wrong?

if it happens once, stop play and replay the point, if it happens repeatedly, i would say call it a distraction and claim the point.
doesnt matter if the match is close or not

Yes, that's exactly what I read should happen.

BUT I should add, (and this is extremely important)..
the rule they are referring to is when a ball ACCIDENTALLY falls
out of your pocket/hand.

The situation I am describing is totally different.

I am talking about DELIBERATELY taking a second ball, at the time of serve, hitting the first ball (served underhand) and then bouncing the second ball (still at the service line) as if preparing to serve, all the while BEFORE the first ball hit has even bounced on the other side of the court!

I am a bit disappointed this didn't sink to that 5th grade humor level that the title left wide open.

I mean, good discussion on topic, but what is this place coming to?

C'mon, really? Those of us who aren't sociopaths don't want our opponents to get hurt. It is distracting seeing a ball bouncing around near my opponent's feet.

Foist of all...
OrangePower left the room a long time ago (Aug 2013).

Second of all, you didn't read all of his post.
He is on your side!
He was quoting someone else when he said:
"How can a ball on opponent's side possibly bother you?"

Andy Murray used to have this problem with the adidas shorts and tiny pockets. First one is a let, after that you can assess points.

I’ve had this happen.

We wear rugby shorts or “footies” in Australia. It’s standard for blokes to wear them without underwear.

Had mine and have seen others balls fall out of the leg quite a few times lol

Now that would definitely be hinderance!!!! A major, O'****e moment, and should be a cause for immediate DQ. What seems funny to me is the
common refrain, "break-a-leg", should that be banned for triggering?
