Serves Rafa right for constantly avoiding Roger in late 2014 and the entirety of 2015. Roger would have got his fair share of wins over Rafa during that period.

It's all fair.

Nadal didn't avoid Federer. He had no reason to avoid Federer then. If Nadal wanted to avoid someone it would have been Djokovic but he played Djokovic 7 times in his worst phase. He just didn't get to face Federer, there was no avoiding. Besides, Federer avoiding Nadal on clay since 2017 makes it even anyway.

djoko accepting wc at estoril would be ideal if he does..he needs to keep playing matches not just training drills..

also according to wiki, nick k has withdrawn from estoril..(no surprise there then).

I said last week it was a mistake for Novak to play in Barcelona, where the field was good and he would have to face Nadal if he won a few matches. Nadal would have decimated him, likely 6-1. 6-1. He should have played in Budapest, where he probably could have won at least 2-3 matches and tried to build some confidence. Now he has lost even more confidence and even more possibility of real match play.

The poster claiming Novak was winning the FO needs to watch his matches, because his play level is abysmal.

Federer hasn't avoided Nadal on clay either, he simply hasn't made it to him after 2013 and has only met him once on clay after 2013.

You do realize I didn't mean "avoid" literally. Djokovic hasn't avoided Nadal, he just hasn't been good enough to get to him. I simply meant that Nadal couldn't return the favor in late 2014 and the entirety of 2015 by meeting Federer more often during the Sapniard;s worst phase after Fed had already done that quite a lot in 2013-early 2014 when the Swiss was in poor form. That's why their H2H is the way it is.

So Nadal fans have no reason to complain about Djokovic not making it to him since it's only fair given that Nadal did this to Federer without returning the favor.

It takes sometime to get back into playing form when you have a long drawn out injury! I give it another two months to work out the kinks! Nole will be at least top 20 for 2018! Noles previous points are still on the books so he probably cannot defend them but can get to top 20!

This seems sort of fair, Nadal faced Federer three times in 2013 and Federer faced Nadal one time during 2015 , But the Djokovic-Nadal case is different cause Nadal reached him 7 times and Djokovic only met Nadal once , Nadal deserves at least one
more match maybe two cause one of those losses was in a GS

Novak can barely win a first round match and you are more concerned about the H2H with Nadal!

I wasn't all too impressed with either guy really, didn't really see any positive signs for Novak, unlike maybe his Monte Carlo run a week before. I can't even look past his serve right now, it's such a joke compared to what it was. Obvious he was opting for a higher 1st serve percentage here, but regardless, IMO it's his biggest problem he needs to surpass to get to where he was again.

Hopefully Djokovic reach Nadal at Madrid and if he takes an L early, At least his ranking will drop so Djokovic has to win less to face Nadal

I'm more interested in seeing Nadal winning titles than meeting and beating Novak. If it happens on the way to winning a title, great. If not, doesn't matter. He has already beaten Djokovic 24 times, including 9 of those victories coming at Slams. I want Rafa to win RG and US Open or even Wimbledon and end the year at number 1 again.

The game has evolved and changed,Nole havent adapted to it. Plus he burned out mentally after winning RG 2016.Another thing is his physical situation.Look at him from few years ago and look at now - big difference. He can rebound but it will take a lot of time

How has the game evolved? It’s only been 1.5 year. No way can the sport evolve that much in such a short period of time. And plus, players have been playing the same way for the past 1.5 decade or so- Baseline rallies, occasional net play, big serves, good movement, etc.

Too be fair, I think Djockovic did quite well taking the initiative in the rallies in the 2. set, after being outhit in the 1. But then it was not quite enough...
