Anyone familiar with San Diego tennis know whether Barnes Tennis Center - being so close to the airport - has an issue with airplane noise?

There is some but I definitely wouldn't say its an issue. Its infrequent and not very loud.

Agree, no big deal when I've visited/played there.

Beautiful area, enjoy yourself! Visit Ocean Beach while you're there...partly gentrified hippie town.

I'd think airplane noise is the least of it even if the courts are located IN the airport. What's going on with the court next to you is more likely to be bothersome than an occasional plane flying overhead. If you're that particular about noise, something I'm not all that much, check out who plays there and what their court etiquette is like. Would you really not play somewhere because some airplanes fly over now and then??

Yes, the airplane noise is pretty loud at Barnes. The commercial jets take off directly over Point Loma and Loma Portal. I used to take lessons at a condominium about a block away from Barnes and the instructor would suspend talking until the plane was clear.
