Barricade 2026

I never get hyped for shoes these days to avoid disappointment lol.
Rather keep my expectations low and be pleasantly surprised.
Does anybody know if the Barricade 1s ever got retro'd though?

On the photos they have a large enveloping shank/heel counter like the old ones used to have. And which I like, but only if the whole shoe doesn't end up being too heavy
Barricade 2021 is almost a perfect shoe for me, best ever actually, never any soreness or any issues even if I really throw myself around the court for hours, legs are just fine afterwards and next days
Most of the old Barricades were too heavy and clunky for me, had my only ankle sprain once as a result
So I would often be stuck between flimsy unstable "speed" shoes like Ubersonic 1, those also gave me an injury, and too heavy Barricades
Other brands were so so, very good with Yonex Eclipsion 2, then E3 gave me a bad foot injury. Because why wouldn't they completely change a perfectly good shoe
But if the new Barricade ends up being a no go, I would try to find enough of the current ones
Vapor 12 are OK, but only that, I move way better in Barricades

Looks lighter almost
The upper on the toebox doesn't seem very substantial but the outsole under the toebox comes up more.
The heel counter seems to be more built up but the midfoot area is less.
Assuming that the midfoot shank is smaller and isn't hiding underneath the exterior (unlike the current 'Cades which have a giant visible one), I think they are sacrificing torsional stability for midfoot flexibility.

Looks like midsole is light strike pro. Tonge and lacing system are different than the previous model, very basic setup. Mid foot shank looks a bit smaller
In the stock photos, the new model looks sleeker, more streamlined. In the photos on feet with Stefanos they look really big and bulky.

Only held it in my hand, lighter and less bulky than current Barricade, which itself is not heavy nor bulky
New Barricade has a construction similar to Ubersonic 5, with that enveloping plastic shank-midfoot mould, but not as thin and feather light as U5
Crucially my fears of a bulky old school Barricade are now gone

Super great shoes, but I feel like they slope downward a little too much, almost like wearing high heels. I find my toes jamming into the toe box.

Looks good so far, the design finally feels reminiscent of the classic Adidas Barricade silhouette that we've been waiting for, the ones Novak and Murray used to wear. In fact, they practically reverse-engineered those shoes into what became Novak’s Asics Court FF and Murray’s custom Under Armour models.
Hopefully, this turns out to be a solid shoe with updated materials. All Under Armour had to do was launch Murray’s custom pair to the market, the same way Asics tweaked the design for the first iteration of the Court FF. But I guess they were too cautious, probably worried about copyright claims and all that, typical of U.S. companies.

Dude they pretty much are heels. I have the current Barricades and they damaged my toenails because my toes were sliding into the toe box

i own 13s. i did have some initial toe jamming, but this has resolved with time. probably should've gone up a half size (i'm 11). i do get some heel pain if i land on them awkwardly, but that happens very rarely. i'm actually very satisfied with this shoe after having used ultrashot 4 (mega crap when it comes to durability). ultrashot 3 has been my favorite shoe so far (used GR9s, cybersonics 2, and now this one).
