Based on these match results will my USTA ranking go up or stay the same?

Hi Everyone,

New to this forum. Have been ordering from TW for a long time and just realized this forum was here.

Would like to get your opinion on whether my USTA ranking might go up or stay the same based on this year's match results. I am currently a USTA Men's 3.0.

#1 Singles - Won - 6-0, 6-2
#1 Singles - Won - 6-1, 6-1
#1 Singles - Won - 6-0, 6-2
#1 Singles - Won - 6-0, 6-2
#1 Singles - Lost - 6-1, 6-1
#2 Singles - Lost - 6-2, 6-3
#1 Doubles - Won - 6-0, 6-1
USTA Region Sectional Playoff - #1 Doubles - Lost 6-3, 6-4

Impossible to say. It all depends on the exact decimal ratings of your opponents. If you lost those two matches to self raters, I would say the chance of you getting bumped are pretty high.

If you do get bumped you will be benchmarked (3.5B) because you played in playoffs.

Both losses were to self raters. One was a legit 3.5 player and the other one was borderline 4.0! The "3.5" guy only lost 1 match all season and that was to the "4.0". Obviously that guy didn't lose any...

Why on earth would you not want to be bumped? By the consistent loopsided scores it appears you could of been eating a happy meal and still of come out the winner.

great 3.0 record! i would bet you'd move to 3.5..its never about what court you play is all about who you played against and what their DR is. if you dont move all the better becasue you can aslways play up to 3.5 anyway and then dominate post season at the level you stay at! you'd be any good 3.0 team captains' dream! you can never get DQ'd ! Distrcit..sectionals..nationals,,thats what its about!

Thanks for the input and the kind words everyone! Yes, would love to get bumped up as a morale booster. I had a similar record last year which was my first USTA season and also made the playoffs then as well. Did not get bumped up last year, hence my questions about being bumped up this year.

As a result I was a "benchmark" this year. As was mentioned, you cannot appeal the benchmark and I had to play at 3.0. I can definitely still improve as evidenced by the couple of losses. I loved how the guys that beat me were self-rated and could have easily been at 3.5 or 4.0!

Really? I thought an appeal isn't granted if you've played a certain number of matches. Is there an exception for double-bumps?

I don't know if there is an exception for double bumps, but every player I know that has appealed a double bump, has been auto-granted their appeal.

So much for "conventional logic". The Eastern Early Start Ratings came out over the weekend and I am still at a 3.0. Not sure what will happen when the year end "adjustments" come out...

You must have beat the players at the bottom of the barrel.:-?

I guess they were not the "elite players". Most of them had .500 records this season. The 2 guys that beat me were moved up... :(
