You're obsessed with Upminster lol. The real question is could he do it on a cold, rainy, boggy evening in Stoke?

Not a problem.

How about doing it in front of 80,000 people at Wembley Stadium?

I think you’re neglecting the reason Nadal dropped out of Basel in the first place. Not only the overplaying/fatigue factor, but Nadal specifically cited that his knee couldn’t handle it. There’s diminished chance that Paris will be any kind of a cakewalk and an excellent one that he hampers his WTF prep by doing this.

I am not buying the knee excuse one bit. He has cried wolf for too long for that.
So after 3-4 years of being completely healed with nary a mention, the knee suddenly hurts when he is potentially going 0-5 or 0-6 against his former pigeon ? He will come out beasting at Paris and WTF, trust me.

I am not buying the knee excuse one bit.

Neither is anyone else on the planet aside from VB'ers. Nadal suddenly shows up with a bandage on his knee for the Shanghai final, when it hadn't been seen in years. Then the moment he practices again in Mallorca, the bandage miraculously vanishes. No bandage at Paris either. Guess his "injured" knee got better after the Shanghai beat down.

He doesn’t need an excuse. He is exempt from all ATP tournaments. His serve was way off and he was moody but he looked fine movement wise.
Not true. He needs a medical excuse to be excused from any tournament after the draw has been made. The back injury is an excuse, his back is fine. Read his presser from yesterday or watch it on Youtube. No back issues.

If this exho was scheduled sometime last year, then it is probably because Fed thought he may not even qualify for the WTF this year after, let alone have a chance to win it, after falling big time in the rankings last year.

Either that, or muryGOAT wanted to screw Fed's chances at YEC like he has done elsewhere :D.
gotta be the latter, no? They don't schedule exho's more than a year in advance and I have a hard time seeing Fed would think he wouldn't qualify. It's close to London at least.

I think he needs a semi final appearance and he will be in.
Iirc PCB edges him with a QF to PCB and a semi to Delpo. @Doctor/Lawyer Red Devil
So as has been reported elsewhere, the official reason for Fed nursing Paris is back injury.

Those who have seen the final - were there signs of this in his game? Reasons to be worried for WTF?

Signs - don't read too much into them though:
First service percent in the 30s in set one. 5 DF's, including 3 in one game. Generally low first serve percentage in Basel. Backhand ain't at it's very best.
Signs to the contrary:
I thought he moved well in every match. And he was serving at 205 at least once in every match, which is high for him. So overall, I do think this is just precaution, i.e. him knowing that he can't play 10 matches in 13 days and still be fit for the WTF.

Does showing amazement at the Federer's stamina and fitness at the age of 36 and few months amounts to raising PED allegations? One of my recent post where I had expressed feeling of getting amazed at his stamina in defeating Delpo got deleted with the explanation that I am raising unsubstantiated PED claims. Puzzles me.
raising an eyebrow over his stamina in every 2nd posts of yours and you're amazed someone connects the dots you're making?

It got better when Fed went deep in Basel (effectively meaning Fed won't play Paris and hence he is safe from a beatdown).

If Fed is healthy for the WTF, the bandage will appear again.

I just dont want to get into a fangirl discussion. I dont want to go back and find "proofs" and stuff. I find this "discussion" unnessesary and extremely boring. On my "reporting list"? Do I have that? No I dont have any list regarding people in here. Life is too short to bother w that. How on earth can you believe sort of things like that. Please just stop quoting me and chill out.
I deleted a bunch of posts for you because you didnt like your own argumenting. You cant remove posts now?
Its so arrogant of you.
At the same time telling me to find proofs in something you accusing me for.
You are not a victim here. This is something you have produced out of thin air.

I'm not playing victim. You're the one with the Fed fan complex and think fighting against "nasty Fed fans" is necessary and means "guts" here. I'm only here for tennis and fun and but got caught up in some Rafa fans' obsessive world.

You really should move on and just ignore me. You paranoically accused me of baseless things in PM and insulted me stuff that you would never want to say in public. I have every intention to avoid you but this time:

cc0509 and BeatlesFan were having an exchange. You fished in troubled water to mock me as being his "twin sister". I wouldn't have minded it that much had you said it directly to me.

You refer to him as one of the "nasty/biggest Rafa hater Fed fans" that trolled the Nadal news thread. And now I’m his “twin sister”. Yes, I took offence and reacted like that.

But you blatantly denied everything and implied I was lying, playing the "chill out" and "thin air" cards again.

You didn't even ask for "proofs". You know, I know, they're there. Instead you threatened to report me right away. Yes, I have received warnings you might do that. You have a history of fighting and reporting.

When I said "disprove me if you can", I didn't mean to ask you to provide proofs for my "accusations" - that's ridiculous. I can certainly provide mine by quoting you if necessary. But you also can try to disprove what I said by proofs of your own.

The post deleting thing, which you seem to love bringing up, again, you're spinning it like you had to do it for me, while in fact I didn't make you do anything - you happily agreed to it yourself. I only felt that you were upset at my mentioning your rooting against Rafa and being salty because he beat your princes. Also because I didn't want to argue and derail a match thread. Meles was in that thread when we were having that exchange. I have nothing to hide.

You're the one who said it was really nice; that you also had asked someone to do it before but they refused so now you chose to report instead.

How quickly you changed you tone and spin the whole thing again.

I only felt guilty of derailing the thread, especially in a "celebration atmosphere". So I asked if you wanted me to delete my OP, I'd do it. But your “strange” instant “like” and threat to report me if I don't remove it - Well, I have no choice but to leave it.

Now as for "fangirl discussion". Well, call me a fangirl with that condescending tone all you want. At least I don't root against my guys and wish them to retire when they're being on top of the world or say he's the goat this day and not the next day.

I will end everything here and say no more. I know I may sound oversensitive here but there's a reason for that with our history and I cannot in any way have any exchange in PM with you any more. Your passive aggressiveness and tone changing in public, yes, I admit it was silly of me to get triggered so easily.

You can report me all you want. You're living this forum. I'm not.

P.S. My apologies to everyone for derailing and turning the thread into this mess. It won't happen again

Yeah Sanghai and Basel were a month apart. Also IW and Miami were also a month apart. You surely establishing your credentials very well for a serious poster.

And it's no coincidence that Federer looked really tired in the finals of both Miami and Basel and won both on guts as much as skill, and had to take a break afterwards.

Nadal is still as fit as they come - it took him 16.2 claycourt matches in a month to get tired (MC + Barcelona + Madrid + Rome before the Thiem loss).
