Battle by the Border: Matt Lin vs. San Diego

The top age group guys are strong and in top shape and can play for many years on hard courts..:)
Tell that to Jimmy Conners' hips... he would be a top age-group guy but for the fact that he can barely move. That's anecdotal but... I know a lot of once-excellent senior players that can no longer compete as a result of injuries. It happens quite routinely.

Connors is not an example of the norm...look at the USTA draws in the cat1 and cat2 in the 60, 65, 70, 75's and that doesn't count state and international players..ps.. i just saw Connors play in person and he's moving much better now after rehab

Matt got to play with Tim. For what it's worth, some good pionts and solid level play in my book. Both looked a bit off overall.

Hi! tennistim from YouTube here :) (that username was already taken on TTW so had to go settle for timtennis lol) Thanks for linking and the nice compliment. Matt hadn't played in ~1 month due to traveling/vacation. I made too many errors in first set for sure and did the best I could after running out of racquets haha

Good to see ya on here. I know a lot of folks follow you on YT and I've seen your videos around here often. Always good stuff. Cheers.

Wilson Clash Racket play test and demo tomorrow Feb 16 8:30 to 11 at Peninsula Tennis Club, 2525 Bacon Street 92107, 610 226 3407

I think I will be there.

Clash is Wilson's new frame with 56 RA and a thick beam - possibly the flexiest frame in the market, compensated for power by the thick hoop. Read the threads in the Rackets section.

Usually these events have some goodies given away too but I do not know

DATE/TIME EVENT 2019-02-16
8:30 am - 11:00 amPeninsula Tennis Club, Ed Collins Tennis Academy
San Diego, United States

I will be there volunteering on Saturday.

I see both Keegan Smith (UCLA) and Tanner Smith (USC) as well as coach Peter Smith (USC) among the competitors.
I was there yesterday (Friday). There were some great matches! Smith/Smith USC team was on fire. With an insane around the post passing shot for the win. Looks like it will be rained out for Sat. Hope to see yo there Sunday!

Saturday morning volunteers like me were asked not to come.

I won't be there tomorrow as I will be traveling.

Luis Clemente Tiant Vega (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈlwis ˈtjant]) (born November 23, 1940) is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) right-handed starting pitcher. He pitched 19 years primarily for the Cleveland Indians and the Boston Red Sox. He became a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame in 1997.
Tiant compiled a 229–172 record with 2416 strikeouts, a 3.30 ERA, 187 complete games, and 49 shutouts in 3,486.1 innings. He was an All-Star for three seasons and 20-game winner for four seasons. He was the American League (AL) ERA leader in 1968 and 1972. He also was the AL leader in strikeouts for 9-innings in 1967 and the AL leader in shutouts in 1966, 68, and 74.
In 2014, Tiant appeared for the second time as a candidate on the National Baseball Hall of Fame's Golden Era Committee election ballot[1] for possible Hall of Fame consideration for 2015 which required 12 votes. Tiant and the other candidates including two other former players from Cuba, Minnie Miñoso and Tony Oliva, all missed getting elected with three votes or less.[2] The Committee meets and votes on ten selected candidates from the 1947 to 1972 era every three years.

Back to Matt and Tim, best hitting I've seen by TTW forum members. Great serves (even aces) by both, Tim's backhand is sublime, and Matt still moves and hits on the run as well as ever. Good sportsmanship too as a lot of close calls and compliments given to the opponent. Evenly matched, and I enjoyed their performance despite they're being a bit "off" as someone claimed. We should all be so lucky as to play that well on an "off" day. Would love to see more whenever available. Nice angle and editing too.
